Told to quiet down. He got louder. No man was keeping him from Christ.
Jesus stopped for him.
We crush ourselves with stress and doubt. But do we go to God?
Start the day by asking God to shrink our focus on weak things…
To grow our faith and obedience.
If we refuse to bring our repeat struggles to Him, over and over, we do not believe.
Luke 18:37-42
Wider than money. Any master. Comfort, approval, work.
Whatever has our heart, we are devoted to it first and we despise whatever competes with it.
If time with God feels like a chore, that is the tell. Something else has the first seat in our life.
Lock in on God and we will love being obedient.
That does not mean knuckle through it.
It is starting the day in prayer. Tell God these things are in the way.
Ask Him to shrink them in our heart and to lead, because we are not getting it done on our own.
Beg Him to do this. Have faith He will.
Luke 16:13
The lost son came to his senses after squandering his father's money on a reckless life.
He owned it and apologized. His father did not hold it against him.
He was so happy he was back.
No guilt or lecture.
That is God when we do the same in our life. Back on the path is always GOOD NEWS.
We should rejoice when anyone comes home and joins in the gifts and joy God has for us.
Luke 15:20-24
Excuses that are all fine things in life. Good to have.
A new field, oxen to work, a wedding... Normal life!
The failure is putting these things ahead of God.
Before we realize it, "not now" turns into never.
The comfort and abundance of normal life is the thing most likely to keep us from God.
Luke 14:16-20, 23-24
