I wrote my first Pen and Dragon review and it's live now! Yes, this was my first time reading these. I'm a fantasy author and hadn't yet read the legend that is J.R.R. Tolkien. I have amended that. penanddragon.beehiiv.com/p/b…

Nobody has made a convincing argument the Empire in Star Wars is actually bad. They run clean organized starships and create trillions of jobs across the galaxy. When the Jedi run the government - an unelected council that somehow has infinite money to build giant buildings and own fleets of starships - Coruscant still has a redlight district with drugs like death sticks. Either keep civilizational order by nuking rogue planets, or be slaves to sexless fake Jesus types who slice you with laser swords with impunity.

My dad passed away 20 years ago but when I was a kid, my dad would let me stay up late sometimes and watch Star Trek The Next Generation with him and that is a core memory for me. That’s why Picard will always be my captain.

It’s time to revisit Malacandra! The Space Trilogy is an under appreciated jewel by C.S. Lewis.

I haven’t been too high on some of Sanderson’s more recent books but this really surprised me. I loved the characters and the story was captivating. The Fires of December may be my new favorite Cosmere standalone!

Have you seen the recent full Moon? Her reflected glory reminded me of this week's need to reveal my next novel title. As you may know, Mission to the Stars book 2 launches 2027 from @EnclaveBooks . Title reveal in three ... two ... one ... πŸŒ‘πŸŒ˜πŸŒ—πŸŒ– The Moon Will Not Give Light Go therefore. Save the space. Book 2 returns us aboard the good ship Alpha Omega, led by my friends, Brock and Alicia Rivers, as they launch their first missionary journey above the circle of Earth … and into the dark domains ruled by the secular regime CAUSE. Just this past April, the world held its breath while Artemis II astronauts orbited our satellite. That very month, I was finishing this next story. Now I can’t wait to launch The Moon Will Not Give Light into this world, and possibly to lands beyond. (Still running tonight: our special cosmic promo. To see this, simply gaze into the shadowed sky.) Join the Book 2 Cover Reveal Crew and/or Novel Launch Team! Of course, every novel launch needs a crew, starting with the cover reveal. Want to join this reveal crew and Launch Team? If so, here's the recruitment form: forms.gle/pxdTbzrqGKWmWWHe9 Ask me anything. (Except for how we ever managed to arrange that perfectly timed partnership with NASA and the Artemis III mission. Can't talk about that one.)
Lots of folks are concerned about growing sharia law. Consider a scary notion: What if the caliphate won? That's the premise of my friend @KerryNietz's novel A Star Curiously Singing, DarkTrench Saga book 1. This is a dystopian sci-fi unlike any other, set in a future ruled by the Abduls. These men master the people with one-world Islamic law, and they control their own debuggers with implants that punish "sinful" thoughts. Then one debugger, one Sandfly, discovers a broken robot that offers a strange message from beyond. And it seems A-Cubed has not abandoned this land. I discovered Kerry's books long after I'd begun early work on what would become my own sci-fi novel. Above the Circle of Earth (from @EnclaveBooks) explores a different and closer timeline for our future. In this 22nd century, Christians, Muslims, and all other religious believers are siloed into legal preserves on Earth. Instead it's the secular humanists who govern the Earth and all the solar system without challenge ... That is, until a certain Christian exile on Mars, Brock Rivers, finally starts that missionary outreach he's dreamed about. Not on Earth. But in other lands. Brock and his people must fight plenty of enemies: - the watchful secular technocracy of CAUSE, - other Christians, happy with the preserve system, - and just maybe some caliphate-prone peoples. Two great titles. Both engaging with Christianity/Islam. And both well-suited for thoughtful readers who love tales of faithful humans struggling in hostile worlds. Oh. Plus today, Kerry, @ztrussell, and I chat about false religions taking over the world in our new podcast episode from @Lorehaven: lorehaven.com/podcast/330-wh…
