Reporting live from #Karongi, where a special Umuganda was organized today to raise awareness among the youth to live a sober life. Across several districts in #Rwanda, community work took place this Saturday as part of an initiative promoting sobriety and well-being for a more responsible and resilient generation. In the Western Province, on the shores of Lake Kivu specifically in Karongi this initiative also highlighted community solidarity and strengthened resilience in the face of challenges faced by local populations. The Minister of Health @nsanzimanasabin and the Inspector General of Police @fnamuh present during the community works, stressing the importance of sobriety in personal development, the well-being of the community, and each citizen’s contribution to national development. In this short report we also spoke to Rwandan artist @Bwizaofficial who was also part of the campaign.

The Washington peace agreement was built on mutual obligations: Kinshasa would neutralize the FDLR, and Rwanda would lift its defensive measures. Kinshasa has not faced  consequences despite continued cooperation with the FDLR genocidaires, and attacks on civilians. Peace mediation depends on impartiality. A mediator must apply the same standards to every party, without political or strategic bias.

The U.S. has stayed completely silent as the DRC government bombed a hospital in Minembwe amid continued drone strikes killing innocent civilians. When a mediator only targets one side, it stops being a mediator. Real peace in the DRC requires naming every crime no matter who commits it.
