One day you'll look back and realize that some
of the moments you rushed through were the
very moments you would give anything to
experience one more time.
This is your reminder to slow down.

He wrote "You're My Best Friend" for her the year they married. She raised six children while he toured the world with Queen. Fifty years later โ they're still in the same house in Putney. Veronica Tetzlaff is the most private person in rock history.
On March 26th, 1971 โ John Deacon walked into a college disco in London.
He had joined Queen just two months earlier. Across the room was a young woman named Veronica Tetzlaff โ born in Sheffield, of Polish ancestry, studying at the Maria Assumpta Teacher Training College.
They met. They started dating.
Veronica was pursuing a teacher training course in Kensington. After a few years of dating โ they married on January 18th, 1975. Veronica was already pregnant at the time of the wedding.
Queen was rising. World tours were starting. Bohemian Rhapsody was coming.
A friend who knew Veronica well said โ "She didn't wear any makeup and wore fairly plain clothes. She is a lovely person, completely unpretentious. I've got the impression down the years that their children are the most important things to her."
Together they had six children โ Robert in 1975, Michael in 1978, Laura in 1979, Joshua in 1983, Luke in 1992, and Cameron in 1993.
While John played bass on some of the greatest records in history โ Veronica raised their family quietly. No interviews. No premieres. No fame.
She chose to live a quiet life away from public attention to raise their children โ a distinction she has maintained for over fifty years.
Today โ John and Veronica still live together in Putney, South West London.
John wrote "You're My Best Friend" for her in 1975 โ the same year they married.
Fifty years later โ the song still plays on radio stations worldwide.
And the woman it was written for has never once spoken about it publicly.
Some love stories don't need an audience.

Danny Ellerd was so ill that jail refused to take him. He weighed just 92 pounds, and an infected hand was threatening his life.
In 2021, after years of addiction and homelessness, two bounty hunters found him on outstanding warrants.
He says his hand was so swollen from injecting drugs that they couldnโt handcuff him.
At the jail, a nurse insisted he needed a hospital instead.
Doctors saved his hand, and his life.
After treatment, Ellerd entered recovery through Hope Is Alive.
He later enrolled at Oklahoma State University, studying Computer Information Systems while working and managing a recovery home.
He graduated with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
By October 2026, he reported five years of sobriety, two college degrees and a job helping people move out of homelessness.
He also wrote a book called Recovery Is Possible.

I and a couple of friends went to #Wetherspoons tonight, all wearing our poppies, no one batted an eyelid.
There were also a couple poppy collection boxes on the bar.
