ARMED SUSPECTS ROB WOMAN AFTER STOKVEL HOUSE PARTY IN LIMPOPO
Police have launched a manhunt for two armed suspects following a house robbery at Mokwakwaila Village in Limpopo in the early hours of Sunday, 1 November 2026.
The 42-year-old woman was sleeping with about 10 relatives after hosting a traditional Xiseveseve celebration, during which she received money as gifts.
At approximately 04:20, two armed men allegedly forced their way into the house and demanded the money.
The suspects searched the house and found an undisclosed amount of cash. One allegedly fired a shot into the air before assaulting the woman with a steel pipe.
The suspects fled with the money, firing several shots as they drove away.
Police have opened a house robbery case and are appealing to anyone with information to assist in tracing the suspects.

Thank you so much for this information.

There are 4,485 wards in South Africa. More than 50% of the names on ward ballots for the 2026 local government elections belong to someone standing in more than one ward. Long story here about this loophole, but this week let’s pay actual attention.
Before you vote, please double-check how many wards the candidates on your ward’s ballot paper are standing in. Someone on the ballot in multiple wards is not invested in service delivery, your problems, and the community.
Why: Your ward vote elects a councillor, but it also counts towards each party's share of council seats (PR seats), even if a party’s candidate in your ward loses.
Parties therefore put names of candidates on as many ward ballots as they can, and often the same person shows up on ballots, ward after ward. In Johannesburg, there are candidates who are on the ballot in all 135 wards; and similarly in Ethekwini candidates feature in as many as 112 wards.
Search for your address or locate your ward on the map to see who's standing in your ward and where else they may be standing.

Recommended feature to try: 📈 generate an infographic showing details of how your ward voted (overall turnout was dismal that year countrywide 😮💨) and performed in the 2021 LGE, so you can make the most informed decisions now.
Water, stormwater drains, refuse removal and the size of the potholes in your community are political. It’s our business. Get in line. #CountryDuty #Elections

Haai!! Manager needs to teach the athletes to read the route maps. And have people stationed at those splits to guide the runners.
OPEN LETTER TO ATHLETICS GAUTENG NORTH (AGN) AND CENTRAL GAUTENG ATHLETICS (CGA)
Dear AGN and CGA Leadership,
I am writing this open letter to raise serious concerns about the repeated failures in race organisation that are disadvantaging elite athletes, particularly those who compete without the financial and material support of established running clubs and sponsors.
1. The reality of unsupported elite athletes
For many elite runners without club sponsorship, winning races is not simply about prestige or recognition; it is a means of earning a livelihood and supporting their families. Many have no family investments, alternative income streams or financial safety nets to fall back on.
These athletes spend five to seven days conditioning their bodies, preparing mentally and physically for competition. Yet winning is never guaranteed. They face stiff competition from equally talented runners who benefit from established running clubs and sponsors, including quality running shoes, branded running gear, supplement vouchers and, most importantly, monthly stipends that help them meet their basic living expenses even when they do not win races.
Unsupported athletes often depend on the goodwill of dedicated coaches who voluntarily provide training programmes through online platforms, requiring data and airtime to maintain communication. Their managers, too, are often volunteers who believe in their athletes' talent and sacrifice their own limited resources to support them, particularly during financially difficult periods.
These athletes frequently target races with lower prize money because major, high-paying races attract stronger fields of well-supported competitors. Although the prize money at these smaller events may be disappointingly low, it can make a meaningful difference to an athlete's livelihood.
It is therefore deeply concerning when poor race organisation deprives these athletes of the opportunity to earn what they have worked so hard to achieve.
2. Repeated incidents of poor race organisation
I wish to bring three incidents involving athletes under my management to your attention.
A. Waterfall Half Marathon 2026
My athlete competed in the 21 km race with the intention of challenging for the top prize. However, the 10 km and 21 km elite runners started together, and the athlete used the 10 km runners to pace himself. Unfortunately, he missed the turn separating the two routes and finished among the 10 km runners.
Despite his performance, he received no official result for the race he had entered.
B. Balwin Jeppe Race Series, formerly known as the Pick n Pay Marathon
At this event, my athlete entered the 10 km race but missed the turn-off separating the 10 km and 21 km routes. He continued along the 21 km course and finished among the top ten runners in that distance, yet he was recorded with no result for his intended event.
C. Region 5 Marathon — Sunday, 1 November 2026
The same problem occurred again. My athlete was leading the 21 km race alongside the 10 km runners but missed the turn separating the two routes. He subsequently completed the 10 km distance in approximately 30 minutes, yet once again received no official result for his intended race.
Three incidents of this nature raise serious questions about route management, athlete guidance, race planning and the protection of competitors.
3. Where is the failure occurring?
These incidents raise several important questions that deserve answers:
Why are the 10 km and 21 km elite fields sometimes started together without adequate measures to ensure that athletes follow the correct routes?
Why is there insufficient route signage and clear directional guidance at critical junctions?
What role do lead vehicles, motorcycles and race marshals play in ensuring that elite athletes are directed along the correct course?
Yours faithfully,
Joe Manciya

Hi Motsamai, thanks for reaching out. Please note that the fee is R15 for a PIN reset at a branch, not R15.90. The fee applies because a PIN reset requires assistance and identity verification by a branch consultant.
