Senegalese-American singer Akon has said that signing Lady Gaga in 2007 earned him enough money to essentially retire.
He brought her onto his KonLive imprint at Interscope Records after she was dropped by Def Jam. At the time, Gaga was still trying to break through, but Akon backed her talent and helped push her career forward.
She went on to become one of the world’s biggest pop stars, with massive hits such as “Just Dance” and “Poker Face.”
In a February 2010 interview with the Associated Press, Akon said Gaga had “pretty much retired” him financially. He called her a blessing and said he was glad he had believed in her.
French football star Kylian Mbappé has lost his sponsorship deals with Chinese companies Dongpeng and Mengniu after a video spread online showing him seemingly joking about former Chinese leader Mao Zedong.
Both firms reportedly cut ties, saying the comments offended Chinese national feelings. 🇫🇷
Mouse sperm can actually be longer than elephant sperm, even though the animals are wildly different in size.
A regular house mouse sperm is about 120 micrometers (0.12 mm) long, while Asian elephant sperm is closer to 60 micrometers (0.06 mm). That puts mouse sperm at roughly twice the length.
The reason comes down to evolution and how reproduction works in each species.
In a lot of small rodents, females often mate with more than one male, so the sperm end up competing to fertilize the egg. Longer sperm can sometimes have an edge in that race, though it varies by species.
Elephants deal with a different setup. Their much bigger reproductive tracts mean the sheer number of sperm matters more sperm can spread out as they travel toward the egg.
Pumping out huge quantities of sperm can be more useful than making each individual one longer.
Female kangaroos have a reproductive setup that’s pretty different from most mammals people know.
They have two uteri and two side vaginal canals, plus a third central birth canal called the median vagina.
The side canals move sperm toward the reproductive tract, while the central one lets the tiny newborn joey leave the mother’s body.
This odd layout comes from how marsupials evolved kangaroos, koalas, and wombats all belong to that group.
Unlike humans, who end up with a single vagina, marsupials keep the two lateral canals.
In kangaroos the median birth canal forms between them and usually stays open after the first birth.
Male birds-of-paradise are known for putting on some of the most over-the-top courtship shows in the animal world.
The bird in the photo looks a lot like a blue-maned manakin, but the behavior being described actually belongs to male manakins a family of small birds from Central and South America.
Some species do quick footwork, hopping, and wing movements on branches to catch a female’s attention.
When they’re trying to mate, male manakins use practiced routines to show off how agile they are, how good their feathers look, and how fit they are.
In certain species the males meet up at regular display spots where females come to watch and pick a partner.
Other kinds perform on their own, using short hops, wing flicks, and coordinated moves to make themselves stand out more.
Under a microscope an ant’s face looks surprisingly complicated because its head is covered in tiny sensory structures you can barely notice with the naked eye.
Those fine, hair-like bits around its mouth and body help it pick up touch, air movement, and other signals from its surroundings. The two big antennae are some of its most important tools.
They let the ant detect chemicals, recognize nestmates, find food, and figure out where it’s going. Ants are constantly tapping surfaces and other ants with them to collect information.
The large areas on either side of the head are compound eyes, each made up of lots of tiny optical units.
Depending on the species, these eyes can spot movement and help with navigation, though some ants can barely see or are basically blind.
Twin brothers from Ghana have pleaded guilty for their part in a major romance scam that targeted older Americans.
Authorities say they were involved in a wire-fraud conspiracy that hit victims in Ohio and 24 other states. The U.S. Attorney’s Office added that some of the money was sent to Ghana and other places while the victims lost more than $9 million in total.
According to reports, the brothers used fake business deals to lure people into the U.S., where they were eventually arrested after the FBI and other agencies had been watching them for a long time.
In Akan culture in Ghana, the Fontomfrom often called the talking drum is the largest drum in the ensemble. It’s mainly used to send royal messages.
The full Fontomfrom set plays at ceremonies for Akan chiefs and during royal processions. It can also “speak,” reciting proverbs or copying the rhythms of speech at most royal gatherings. 🇬🇭
Lil Baby once dropped somewhere between $8 and $9 million gambling in about 40 hours.
He knew he wouldn’t be able to stop himself, so he called billionaire Michael Rubin and asked him to send a letter to every casino telling them to ban him.
The two first crossed paths in the Bahamas, where Drake, Meek Mill, and James Harden were also around. That night Baby lost $600,000.
In December 2024 he talked about the losses on “A Safe Place Podcast” with Lil Yachty. 50 Cent heard it and was stunned he thought only Floyd Mayweather pulled moves like that.
For a while 50 Cent was sending his ex, Shaniqua Tompkins, $40,000 a month in child support for their son Marquise. There was no court order he was just paying it on his own.
That stopped being enough for her. She asked for $50,000 a month and went to court to force it. 50 Cent then took the case to New York Family Court and asked a judge to decide the number.
After looking at his income and her expenses, the judge turned down her request and said even the $40,000 he was already paying was too much.
Support was cut to $6,700 a month an 83% drop. The court also threw out Tompkins’ $50 million lawsuit that wanted half his estate.
Years later Marquise claimed $80,000 a year still wasn’t enough to live on in New York City.
Lil Wayne was only 12 when he nearly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his house in New Orleans.
Officer Robert Hoobler was one of the responders who showed up. Rather than wait for an ambulance, he helped get Wayne to the hospital so he could get the treatment that saved his life.
That night started a bond that lasted for decades. Even after Wayne became a worldwide star, he never forgot the officer who stepped up for him. He called him “Uncle Bob” and openly credited him with helping keep him alive.
When Hoobler died in 2022, it hit Wayne hard. The man who helped save a 12-year-old kid lived long enough to watch him turn into a hip-hop legend.
Some connections go way beyond ordinary friendship.
On her wedding day, Meadow Walker headed down the aisle with Vin Diesel right next to her.
She lost her dad, Paul Walker, when she was only 15.
At 22, she linked arms with her godfather her late father’s longtime friend as he walked her toward the altar.
It was very much a family thing. Vin’s daughter Hania stood with Meadow as maid of honor.
Meadow posted the wedding photos herself, including the shot of Vin escorting her to the ceremony.
Her father couldn’t be there to walk her down the aisle, but the man he called a friend made sure she didn’t have to do it alone.
Two families came together for one day nobody’s likely to forget.
Akon once realized he was supposedly playing a show in Baltimore while he was still sitting in New York.
On The Bootleg Kev Podcast he said his brother had been quietly booking gigs under his name. The brother would show up, perform as Akon, and pocket every cent.
“He would go as me, he was a straight gangsta about it, and keep all the money for him without telling me nothing,” Akon explained.
According to him the crowds never noticed—they couldn’t tell the two apart. Sometimes Akon only learned about the shows after spotting flyers advertising his own name.
His brother wasn’t just a fan. He was running the entire thing behind his back.

Safina Namukwaya from Uganda is one of the oldest mothers in Africa. After several failed pregnancies and losses in the 1990s, she tried again in 2019 through IVF. In 2020, at the age of 67, she gave birth to a baby girl.
Then in November 2023, when she was 70, she delivered twins by caesarean section. The babies came early at 31 weeks, but both they and their mother recovered without any complications.
Looking back, Safina says she trusts that faith guided her journey. She believes no one can limit what God has planned.
The family of a three-year-old African-American kid named Nevada says police walked them off a field in Winter Park, Florida, after other parents complained their own kids couldn’t get the ball away from him.
The family of three-year-old African-American footballer Nevada says police escorted them off a field in Winter Park, Florida, after other parents complained that their kids couldn’t get the ball off him.
Nevada was playing in an i9 Sports youth league against children up to five years old. His parents say he kept dominating games, which left some of the other parents frustrated.
According to them, the league then banned the family from the field, issued a trespass notice, and later refunded their registration fees.
The story went viral on October 25, 2026. The exact date of the incident still hasn’t been confirmed, and neither the police nor the league has publicly explained why officers were called in the first place.
