People gotta realize most times you can't have the cake and eat it too and if you refuse to work with what’s available, life eventually forces you to work with what’s left. Life rewards people who build early, not people who wait for ideal conditions.
When you’re young, you think you have unlimited options. You pass on good people because you’re chasing “perfect”. You assume the same level of choice will always be there but time changes the market for everyone. Eventually, you don’t get to pick from the top shelf anymore.
Society tells women don’t date broke men and tells men if you’re broke, you’re not worthy of love. Some men avoid relationships until they’re financially stable. If someone spent years hearing “you’re not enough,” they may become indulgent once they finally feel valued.
Meanwhile some women who avoided broke men in their 20s now want stable, loyal, financially secure men in their 30s but those men have options and don’t feel obligated to settle or men who want commitment already committed. This creates a timing mismatch between the genders.
The partner who chooses you wholeheartedly is rarely the one who fits your “ideal list.” That’s why some people find peace with someone who isn’t rich, or isn’t glamorous, or isn’t “the prize” but is present, consistent, and invested.
