Today, the Government launches plans to fast-track driverless vehicle trials in the UK. One of the companies involved says London presents a big challenge: “It has seven times more jaywalkers than San Francisco.” Except… it doesn't. 🧵

“Girl is when in high heels” “Girl is when sit cross legged” “Girl is when takes a beating for husband and covers it with makeup because it would ruin his career” “Girl is when dinner is always on the table when he gets home” “Girl is when never curses or has an opinion” “Girl is when sugar and spice and everything nice” “Girl is when on Valium because her husband thinks her opinions are unbecoming” “Girl is when no elbows on table” “Girl is when periods are shameful” “Girl is when smiling” “Girl is when she lies there silently crying because husband wants it” “Girl is when pregnant out of wedlock is sent to a mother and baby home” “Girl is when boyfriend chokes me with a belt during sex but it’s okay because sexual liberation” “Girl is when men with fake boobs are more oppressed than women in Afghanistan” Women who prefer clothing from the mens department and short hair are women - but you forgot that part cos you’re a disgusting misogynist who views women = feminine stereotype. You’ll weaponise butch women for your arguments about single sex spaces, suggesting WE see them as men, when you have just proven that you think womanhood (or girlhood) is down to stereotypes of femininity and stereotypical feminine presentation. We don’t, we see women as women regardless of what they wear, and men as men regardless of how they dress.

“girl is when skirt” is far less vulgar or reductive than “girl is when genes”

In material reality, the Earth is round. In material reality, "trans women" are male.

"This entire fiasco is based on lies, and a society that embraces bald falsehoods is eating itself hollow. You cannot change sex. ‘Trans women’ aren’t women. There’s no such thing as ‘gender identity’, ‘brain sex’, or being ‘born in the wrong body’. Sex is not ‘assigned’ at birth; it’s observed. Sex is not a feeling but an external, immutable, biological truth. All these mystical notions are medieval, and in institutionalising them across the modern West we’ve made ourselves ridiculous." I'm so sorry to hear that Mike Peters of The Alarm has died. I saw him singing with Big Country when they reformed in 2011, and was very grateful to him for taking on the impossible job of filling Stuart Adamson's shoes. He was very different, but superb.

I then asked him what is your name? He was like, why do you need to know? I repeated the question, and he was silent. I said to him, you are wearing a name badge, correct? He wouldn't speak. I then asked again, for his name and he refused.

In case you missed it: the new #Flybubble video is live. Carlo had loads of fun testing this #wing and putting the review together. Even if you fly a B or C wing, it’s well worth a watch— the innovations in this model are already shaping lower-rated wings! youtu.be/go1_DXseJ-k

He is saying that Putin didn’t start the war but also that he wouldn’t have started the war he didn’t start if Trump had been President.
Trump: "[Zelensky's] always looking to purchase missiles. Listen, when you start a war you gotta know that you can win the war. You don't start a war against somebody that's 20 times your size and then hope that people give you some missiles." FYI, Russia started the war.

Once painted a really good Spitfire kit as a kid, but that’s less of a boast, more of a Humbrol-brag.

Some of us do speak out against Trump. Loudly and repeatedly. But we are invisible. We are invisible to you. And we are invisible to the bulk of the people who have now been sucked into the tribal culture war framing of this issue, and fed into a machine that is generating support for the populist right. The binary tribal culture war framing of this issue didn't just come out of nowhere. The starting point of the trans right project was that anyone who questioned the ideology or the political impact was, de facto, a bigot and most likely a fascist. When this conflict first really started to kick off in the UK (around 2013/14) most of the people raising questions were *from the left,* many of them feminists, because *we were the people who ran into it earliest.* And it was nonetheless repeatedly insisted that we shouldn't be allowed to speak because we were nazis. Women who objected were bullied out of their communities, out of their political organisations, out of their jobs. Almost no institutions or publications that were left-aligned allowed them to speak, or would defend their right to speak. That is, it was the trans rights project that created this 'us vs them' ideological, tribal structure in the first place. And given the laws of political physics, it isn't hard to see how creating that 'us vs them' ideological structure then led, over time, to the progressive manifestation of that in the political forces at work. The trans rights project effectively manifested its own backlash exactly as it originally projected it. And at this stage, even given the absolute tragedy of that, and the harm it is doing, not only to gender non conforming people of all types, and women, and democracy itself, you are still more interested in pointing at the backlash as evidence of how right you were in the first place, than examining how this could have happened. The materialist feminist women who formed the core of the original pushback against the ideology in the UK repeatedly warned that this would happen. Many of us also tried to stand against it when, in 2022/23, the culture war mechanism really kicked in hard, and the issue became a massive pipeline of right wing radicalisation, and a very effective wedge that the populist/MAGA right used against its opposition. Materialist feminist women were never going to have the money or the power to stand against the populist right once they got their hands on it and decided to milk it for all it was worth. And it was never in their interests, just as it was never in yours, to recognise that we were ever here at all. We never wanted to play your tribal game. We wanted to resolve the material and legal issues before what has happened happened. But it was always the game that you wated to play. And it is also the game the populist right wanted to play, and they thank you very much for your part. #FuckTheCultureWar

The onslaught on DEI policies is one of the gravest and most far-reaching attacks on women's rights in any western democracy in our lifetimes. Rights we've taken for granted are removed or under threat. GCs have 100% enabled this. And still they don't speak out against Trump.
