Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers are closing in on a deal for RHP Merrill Kelly according to @Gambo987 #Dbacks

Some more on the #Dbacks return for Eugenio Suarez: Locklear has made recent mechanical adjustments and has turned a massive corner. He should be available as soon as tomorrow for Arizona and has second round pedigree. Burgos has spent time in the majors with the Mariners this year and has fared well. He was elite in Triple A and has a deep pitch arsenal. Cranton has incredible upside as a reliever. He's the furthest out of the majors of the three but has a clear path as an older prospect. He missed time this year (hence the low innings count and time in low minors). Electric triple digit fastball/slider mix and an exciting arm overall. Two months of Geno garnered a good return. This wasn't the top 100 prospect package that the team hoped for but this will help the Diamondbacks win and likely clears the potential draft compensation they would have gotten.

The Arizona #Dbacks are trading Eugenio Suarez to his former team in the Seattle Mariners according to @JeffPassan

The #Dbacks while initially reluctant to trade both Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly, other clubs desperation to acquire starting pitching is forcing them to change their stance according to @Ken_Rosenthal. The bar for a return will be set higher than the draft picks which they could receive should each starter depart in Free Agency. Eugenio Suarez is almost certainly expected to be traded, alongside free agent outfielder Randal Grichuk.

Corbin Carroll has been selected to the 2025 NL All Star team with the #DBacks, his second midsummer classic in three seasons in the big leagues.

Something I didn't include in this story was a graphic from fangraphs which displays just how jarring the fly ball rates have been for Moreno. Until this series he had not pulled a fly ball. This is changing quickly and it seems to be helping him be more consistent. #Dbacks
