.@ESPN has #Commanders rookie LB Sonny Styles and the Giants' Arvell Reese tied at No. 1 among rookies. The numbers have it just as close.
Sonny's been better against the run and on the ball. Reese has the edge as a pass rusher. Dead even at 7.7 tackles per game.

ESPN's first top-10 rookie rankings of 2026 have a tie at No. 1, and it's two NFC East linebackers.
@MattBowen41, @kalynkahler, @Jeff_Legwold, @Jordan_Reid and @BenjaminSolak were polled for a consensus ranking through Week 7, and they put #Commanders' Sonny Styles and the Giants' Arvell Reese at T-1:
β’ Styles (No. 7 pick): 46 tackles, 1 sack, 1 INT, 1 FF
β’ Reese (No. 5 pick): 56 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1 INT
Reese has the bigger box score, but Styles is the one trending up. Over their last two games, Styles has 26 tackles and 13 stops to Reese's 12 and 8, per NFL Pro.
The case for Styles is also his speed, like running stride for stride with a Seattle RB to break up a deep ball in the win that made him NFC Defensive Player of the Week, the first Washington rookie to earn it since Brian Orakpo in 2009.
Next up: the Eagles again Sunday night. In Week 1, he ran through Saquon to sack Hurts.
Styles or Reese, who's had the better rookie year in your opinion? π

Growing up I was poor. And benefited a lot from the charity of others. Whether it be clothes or food donations, trip sponsorships, my church paying our bills. Iβm not ashamed to talk about it because it made me the person I am today.
And Iβm forever grateful for those people who helped. And itβs why I make it my mission to give back to others in whatever way I can.
