A million excuses as always! Just own it people!!!
You can say A'ja Wilson overreacted, but in a split second of looking up, she perceived a fan's forward movement as a threat.
In context of everything with that fanbase, I can't blame her. My only criticism is she gave him more attention than deserved:

The WNBA has another enormous credibility test on its hands today.
By every reasonable reading of its own rules, this cannot simply disappear.
A’ja Wilson entered the stands to confront a fan. Other Las Vegas Aces players appear to have left the bench during the incident. The rulebook addresses both situations, and both carry consequences.
Now comes the part that will tell fans whether anything has actually changed.
No excuses.
No special treatment because it is A’ja Wilson.
No looking the other way because Game 3 is Thursday.
No rewriting the standard after the fact because enforcing it would be inconvenient.
This is exactly the kind of moment when a professional sports league proves whether its rules are rules or merely suggestions.
Cathy Engelbert, Adam Silver and WNBA leadership have an opportunity today to send a message far bigger than one playoff series.
Apply the rules consistently.
Protect the integrity of the game.
Protect the fans.
Hold the players accountable.
For a league that desperately needs to rebuild trust, this could be a defining moment.
There are fans who have spent the last two seasons wondering whether to stick around and believe a different future is possible under new leadership.
This is the perfect opportunity to set the tone.
Now we wait to see whether the WNBA acts like a serious professional sports organization...
Or chooses narrative over substance once again.

Hey @grok
Last night in Fever-Aces Game 2, A’ja Wilson left the court after a dead ball, crossed the baseline, and confronted a seated fan in the second row. Tony East called it the second row. The Review-Journal said she crossed the baseline to a seated fan and that the tech was for leaving the court. Getty captioned the still “entering the stands.” The Fever later said the fan did not violate the Fan Code and was allowed to stay.
2026 WNBA Comments on the Rules, Section J: any player who deliberately enters the spectator stands is automatically ejected and the incident is reported to the commissioner. Momentum / play on a loose ball is the only exception. “The first row of seats is considered the beginning of the stands.”
Kierstan Bell was not in the game and left the bench to join it. WNBA leave-the-bench rule: minimum one game unpaid + fine.
Answer from the rulebook, not from the fact officials only called a technical.
1. Quote the spectator-stands rule and apply it to second-row video.
2. What should the in-game call have been?
3. What should the league office give Wilson, and Bell, before Game 3?
4. Compare to NBA cases where a player entered the stands to confront a fan even when it did not become a fight... especially Isaiah Thomas, 2019: 2 games, NBA called it a bright-line rule enforced even when the encounter did not escalate (~$32k lost). Then note Malice numbers (Artest rest of season, Jackson 30, O’Neal 15) only as the physical-fight ceiling, not as the floor.
5. Do not treat “she only got a tech” or “the fan pointed” as a defense. The stands rule has no provocation exception.
6. What the WNBA should announce today, Wednesday, Sept. 30, before Game 3 tips Thursday in Las Vegas. Be specific and named:
- Wilson: games and fine, and whether she is eligible Thursday.
- Bell (and any other reserve who left the bench and reached the scene): games and fine.
- Any on-court teammate who followed her into the seats, not just held her on the floor.
- Whether the crew is under review for missing a mandatory ejection.
- One sentence: if both play Thursday, the stands rule and the leave-the-bench rule were waived.
No hedging on whether row two counts. It does.

Per 2026 WNBA Rules, A’ja Wilson should have been ejected for entering the stands
WNBA Rule 12A, Section V
l. A player, coach or trainer must be ejected for:
(4) Deliberately entering the stands other than as a continuance of play
I think the league needs to enforce their own rules! Where is the integrity of this league #adamsilver #kathyengelbert
WNBA Rule 12A, Section V: A player who deliberately enters the spectator stands during a game is automatically ejected. The first row of seats is considered the beginning of the stands.
A’ja Wilson was assessed a technical. She was NOT ejected.
Look at this picture and tell me with a straight face she didn’t enter the stands. 🤨
And since the officials failed to enforce the rule in the moment, the WNBA absolutely needs to review this for possible additional discipline before Game 3.
Rules are rules. MVP or not.
