The awkward moment when you're asked to provide evidence for your claim that the Windsor Framework is boosting the economy in Northern Ireland.....

I have just watched Michelle O’Neill and Mary Lou McDonald from Sinn Fein outside the High Court in Belfast this evening. This is a time for calm heads, not political rants. This is a time to show leadership, not to wind up the community. I have been appalled to see those who have decided to ramp up tensions, and dial up the rhetoric throughout today including senior Sinn Fein representatives on the decision by the Parades Commission to grant a very modest walk on the Garvaghy Road at 8am on Sunday morning. Michelle O’Neill should be dialling down the temperature, not giving stump speeches. Regardless if someone agrees with the decision or not, all should be calming things down. The behaviour of Sinn Fein at the very prospect of 35 men walking down a road at 8am on a Sunday morning, a parade that would take just moments to pass any point, says all you need to know about a “shared Ireland”. The Portadown Orangemen have made clear there is absolutely no threat nor violence. There is nothing to fear from them and absolutely nothing to be apprehensive about. Sinn Fein need to dial the anti-Unionist, anti-British sentiment and show leadership and encourage calm.

I’m really glad that the UK government is funding this.
Sinn Féin minister Caoimhe Archibald is cutting £63 off every home’s electric bill this October. Here’s what you need to know ⬇️

This scheme is from the UK Government, and funded by the Treasury, not Stormont. It required further negotiations due to EU rules regarding Northern Ireland that prevent reductions in VAT such as this, unlike the scheme's application to the rest of the UK. bbc.com/news/articles/… bbc.com/news/articles/…

The Sinn Fein Vice-President is cosplaying as First Minister in Wales. She isn't there in any official capacity and when there are meetings at a government level Michelle O'Neill won't be in the room.

Sinn Fein lambasted me over the Place Name project. Now the truth has come out, they want to “move on”.
SF attacked @gordonlyons1 over the Place-Name Project. Committee evidence now shows the Minister had taken no decision to cut its funding. @PamCameronDUP gave the SF Chair repeated opportunities to produce evidence for his claims. He could not and simply tried to move on.

I’m not one to run away from a debate! Good to meet with protesters at Stormont today- even those calling for my head 😀 I’ll continue to invest in the Arts and bring forward the first ever Arts policy for Northern Ireland. 🎭

Hats off to Richie Neal, it takes a certain type of talent to be so confident and assertive yet be so wrong at the same time.
Mr. Prime Minister, I would suggest that you read the Good Friday Agreement. This is a question for the people, and for the people only. Both sides agreed to the terms of the peace accord, including the principle that the right to self-determination should not be left to one person. That agreement has been honored and has helped maintain peace on the island of Ireland for 28 years. As a guarantor of the Good Friday Agreement, the United States has a critical role to play in ensuring that the people of Ireland have the right to control their own destiny.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The United States is not a legal guarantor of the Good Friday Agreement; the text designates only the British and Irish governments as such. Additionally, the power to call a border poll rests with the UK Secretary of State, not the people as a whole. ukconstitutionallaw.org/2020/09/16/lis… ireland.ie/en/dfa/role-po…

A former Sinn Fein MLA has cited the 1609 arrival of Protestants in Ulster among a number of excuses for the party's inability to deliver A5 road project As well as the plantation, Francie Molloy also blamed the (slightly more recent) use of the courts. newsletter.co.uk/news/politi…

🥁 Brilliant scenes at the Titanic Slipways last night as the Belfast Bands Forum staged their Ulster Bands Showcase as part of the fleadh: flute bands, Lambeg drums and Highland dancing, all against the backdrop of Samson and Goliath.
