In 2016, people who wanted to stay in the EU were called REMAINERS and those who wanted out, LEAVERS. In 2026, those who want back in must be JOINERS whereas people who want to continue outside the EU are by definition REMAINERS. How the world turns in just 10 years.

You know, this really is a perfect illustration of the state of the world today. Russia -- the very same Russia that unleashed the biggest bloodbath in Europe since the time of Adolf Hitler, that occupied the once quiet, cozy Ukrainian town of Oleshky on the banks of the Dnipro River, that forced 90% of its population to flee, that devastated the town (yes, Oleshky was catastrophically flooded following the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam in 2023!), that brought the remaining residents TO THE BRINK OF STARVATION, that couldn't have cared less about them for all these years, that surrounded the town and the roads in and out with minefields, that rejected every Ukrainian proposal for a local ceasefire to rescue the people dying there, that was still shooting down Ukrainian drones trying to deliver food and medicine to Oleshky just weeks ago, and that finally agreed to a ceasefire and evacuation only to please Donald Trump ahead of his elections... ...that EXACT SAME Russia is now standing before the cameras at the White House WITH THE MOST POMPOUS AND SELF-RIGHTEOUS LOOK ON ITS FUCKING FACE, theatrically wringing its hands like a character in an ancient Greek tragedy, and presenting Melania Trump with "touching little gifts" from the "rescued children" of Oleshky. We are living through one of the most utterly disgusting, dumbest, and grotesquely immoral eras in human history.

Additional context. The UK would appear between Latvia and Denmark at 16.4%, just above the EU average.

Anyone know who No6 is?
Which number would you choose?

Anyway. It's the weekend in No10 North. Football, pints, pub snacks - and staffers editing TikToks. Breathing space. 10 year plans. Etc..
The thing is, in 2037 who'll be looking back to see if Burnham's 'slimline' 10 year plan has been completed? I'm fairly certain Burnham won't be around to be held to account. Long grass. Short memories. An empty hook. Not only is his 10 year plan late to the party, it's a fiction. Political mesmerism. Puff without the huff. An abiding reason for not doing important stuff until 'later'. Or never. Things change. 'Breathing space' that obscures urgency, need, action. Starmer was overt. He wanted 2 terms to turn things around. Throughout these terms he'd be measured and weighed - fully accountable. Straight up acceptance of responsibility. His honesty cost him his job. Ten year plan or two terms? Passive versus active. These are not just words. They reveal mindsets that either understand the true nature of political accountability. Or don't.

"I've been perfectly clear from the start. When I said "10 year plan", I meant it would start in 10 years time".

More of this!
The spouses of Ukraine’s, Italy’s and Estonia’s ambassadors to Australia have resigned from the Women’s International Club of Canberra after it admitted Irina Petrakova, wife of Russia’s ambassador. As my beloved wife Liana has rightly put it in the resignation letter: “This is not about a Russian woman simply because she is Russian,” but because she is in Australia representing “the country that killed my cousin, burned my friend alive, took the lives of many of my friends from school and university. She represents a Russia that kills, maims, commits sexual violence and subjects people to horrific torture — a Russia for which, through its actions, the value of human life appears to be disregarded. This includes the lives of the 38 Australian passengers who were on board MH17.”  Read more in the Politico: politico.com/news/2026/11/03…

This was Keir Starmer's work negotiated by Nick Thomas Symonds whom Burnham sacked along with 10 other Starmer Ministers.

Just reading some of the reaction to the US elections. For my money, a change in power resulting in people going to jail is not consistent with a free democracy. Justitia wears a blindfold for a reason - either the law applies to everyone equally, or you have a problem with rule of law.

I guess if you choose a system where politically aligned judges are elected, you should expect justice to be meted out along political lines. And if the rich and powerful fund those elections, vested interest will come before justice.

The number one rule of a political adviser is keep quiet in public. To keep off social media and to be the voice behind the scenes. But just for today I’m breaking that rule. I first met Keir Starmer more than twelve years ago when he was standing to be the Labour Party candidate in Holborn and St Pancras. Since then I have had the privilege of being by his side. From Brexit to the pandemic, leadership campaign to election, opposition to government. Changing Labour from a party of protest to a party of change. Having the chance to do what politics is really about: improving people’s lives. Keir is a man of extraordinary strength, determination and decency. I’m so proud of what we have achieved together. Others will judge his time in politics as they see fit. But for me I see a Britain today that is a better country because of his leadership. Right, back to staying quiet.

You wouldn't ordinarily expect to find England's mayor running a side gig lobbying on behalf of Emirati interests. Leaves a bit of a whiff. Sooner or later someone will fully investigate and build a complete picture of lobbying into and out of Burnham's office. telegraph.co.uk/gift/e81e2d1…

Very upset to see this news. Heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones. 💔
Sad news. I think many of you, like me, followed @Thehuck_59. Her daughter has posted a message that she has lost her battle with cancer. She was always interesting to share political opinions with and like many an avid Keir fan. Thinking of her family and may she Rest in Peace❤️

If he'd put himself up for party leader, and if he'd won the confidence of members and if he'd transformed the party to be electable and if he'd put forward his preferred manifesto and if the electorate liked it and if he'd won a parliamentary majority then...

This poll reeks of apathy and disengagement. A collective shrug of the shoulders. Or 'hope'. We're told.
