Happy Halloween to everyone in Watertown! May this day be filled with chocolate bars galore, walking skeletons, and many a fright! Oh, and if the houses in town could stock up on Swedish Fish, that’d be great. I’ll be going trick-or-treating later as a zombie, and zombies love Swedish Fish. It’s just a scientifically proven fact.

And finally, the sectional championship round of 8-Man football! A pair of 6-seeds are on Cinderella runs with the likes of Oakfield and Athens still in the hunt, but their matchups are against two of the best 8-Man outfits in the whole state! Oh, and another dose of Saturday sweets out in Oshkosh as Owen-Withee and Valley Christian will battle on Halloween, the winner taking the sectional title and the loser’s candy cache! #wisfb

Last of the 11-Man ranks, Division 7 saw plenty of chalk last weekend outside of Osseo/Fairchild. The battle of the strong co-ops takes place between Black Hawk/Warren (IL) and Ithaca/Weston out in the SW part of the state. Coleman and Crivitz will battle for the second time in three games. Finally, can Hilbert go into Oshkosh and knock off Lourdes??? #wisfb

Division 6 is another loaded slate! Fall Creek had arguably the biggest upset of Level 1, but the Crickets get Regis tonight in Eau Claire as their prize. RCF and Manitowoc Lutheran ought to be a good one on Lake Michigan, and Cambridge goes to NE Dodge County for a fight with Lomira. Two teams who at least partially call Dodge County home? I guess that makes D6 the de facto @WadeBatesRadio Special! #wisfb

Division 5 will see plenty of over-the-road traveling. We hope the road teams have a few Willie Nelson CDs ready to go because they’ll need them! Winnebago Lutheran makes the journey from Fond du Lac to Darlington, Luther Prep jogs out to the Minnesota border to battle SCF, and another early slugfest will take place at 4:30pm with Mayville tabbed for a date with Grantsburg! #wisfb

The Division 4 slate is frankly disgusting! This was already a loaded bracket, but pretty much every favorite from last weekend moved on. Now the cream must rise to the top. Freedom hosts their second team hailing from Lake Mills this fall, the all-Tiger tussle in Stratford, and the Coulee’s top 2 teams get ready Round II in West Salem! #wisfb

D3, step right up, step right up! Saturday football will be on tap out in Reedsburg, but that’s just the dessert of this slate. Logan looks to hold serve at home with a traditional power in MHB coming to town, the private schools of CMH and WISCO look to become road warriors, and how will Winneconne fare with an always tough Plymouth program ahead of them? #wisfb

Division 2 holds plenty of intrigue! River Falls getting a home game in Level 2 after a pair of upsets broke their way, Grafton @ Elkhorn should be a fun one, and upstart Waukesha South and Union Grove will be ready for war in SE Wisconsin tonight! #wisfb

Let’s start Halloween weekend off right with the big monsters in Division 1! We have an early game at 4pm with West De Pere hosting Milwaukee Reagan, a long trek for Hudson to Verona, FOUR regular season rematches, Neenah and Bay Port poised to score at will, and an interesting matchup between Appleton North and Waunakee! #wisfb

42 weeks. It’s a long time to wait until the next time we strap on the shoulder pads under the Friday night lights. Good thing the rest of the state has us covered tonight and tomorrow as the playoffs roll on. #wisfb

That wasn’t stressful. That wasn’t a stressful game of baseball at all.

Division 2. One team shines most here, but what about the rest of them? @WadeBatesRadio and Beaver Dam brings in a Brookfield Central program who knows how to make state playoff runs. That seed could be misleading given that program’s pedigree. Monona Grove getting the top seed in their sectional, but there’s no shortage of firepower in that grouping with Marshfield, Elkhorn, and defending D3 champion Grafton in that mix. Union Grove is a program who we expect to see in Madison before too long, and their bracket is a ton of fun with West Bend West’s swan-song before merging back in with East (and a game against rival Slinger). Homestead is in there too, and a deep run for the Highlanders is a real possibility. And of course… Notre Dame. Kingston Allen. Scoring at least 49 points in 8 of their 9 games. Oh, and they’re looking for redemption after falling in the D2 championship last year. Does anyone have what it takes to stop the Tritons from winning it all? #wisfb

Last but not least, Division 1. No shortage of heavyweights no matter where you look here. West De Pere graduates to D1 after winning it all in D2 last year… and their first matchup is against Kimberly of all teams! Not mentioning Chi-Hi, Hudson, and Verona in that bracket as well. Muskego… another Madison mainstay the last couple of years, and they’re in a very southeastern-oriented sectional with Racine Case, Kenosha Indian Trail, and Franklin in the mix. Hamilton. Defending D1 champion Arrowhead. Oconomowoc. 2023 D1 champion Marquette. That sectional has more talent than anyone knows what to do with, and if Arrowhead and Hamilton battle in Level 3, it would be must-see TV! And then… Bay Port. Can the Pirates make it back to Camp Randall? Last year, it ended in absolute heartbreak. Their road to Madison is TOUGH. Win, and you have to battle either Neenah who only lost to Notre Dame by 3 or an extremely talented (and not-talked-about-enough) De Pere squad. Waunakee, SPASH, DC Everest, and Appleton North? Any one of those could make it to Level 3, seeding be damned. Wisconsin… between the World Series and all 120 HS football playoff games… let’s have a weekend! #wisfb

Division 3 was absolute BEDLAM last year. A 4-seed played an 8-seed in the state SEMIFINALS for goodness sake! Reedsburg and Pewaukee could very well rematch again, though it would be in Waukesha County this time if that happens. Whitefish Bay could make another state semifinal appearance (this time with a more favorable seed). Port Washington, Plymouth, AND defending D4 champion Winneconne are in same sectional, and Onalaska is very much alive as a 6-seed La Crosse Logan could make another deep run like they did two years ago and make a trip to Madison too. Catholic Memorial as a 5-seed is jarring to see, but dare I say in good position to win their sectional? Do not be shocked if 2025’s chaos in D3 begets more of the same this year. #wisfb
