Preseason challenge.
Can you pick 35 teams before the year and have ALL of them make the 2027 tournament?
Here are my picks...
Football and basketball aren't the biggest threat to Division 1.
It's sports like soccer where the power programs want what's best for that individual sport and the non-power programs want what's best for their athletic department as a whole.
Wish the field was 64 teams, but this would be cinematic. 📽️
Goodbye, baseball season.
Hello, college basketball season.
Let's figure out this 76-team bracket nonsense together. (With help from our awesome new bracketology widget.)

Expect similar concepts to take hold across the Power 4 in both football and basketball.
The best teams playing each other more often means better TV ratings.
Remember, Patrick Mahomes vs Josh Allen is a ratings hit every season.
NEW: Ohio State AD Ross Bjork says the Big Ten is exploring a football scheduling model for 2028 based on the previous year’s standings:
"So next year’s schedule, we would not know who we’re playing other than protecting the rivalry games. Obviously we have the biggest one, right? Other than that the rest of the schedule could be based on how did the teams finish in the previous year. That’s how the NFL does it."

Popular belief is the Big Ten and SEC are further separating from the ACC and Big 12. I expect the opposite.
As all schools become limited in their membership-involved 3rd party NIL agreements, even more parity will come to the Power 4.
The Big Ten prepares for the Protect College Sports Act economic framework.

Future Final Four hosts will be selected in 2027.
I predict they'll drop Indianapolis and Houston, choosing Denver, Kansas City, Vegas, Nashville, and New Orleans as hosts.
New Orleans seems most likely to miss if they give it to Houston, instead.
Credit to Virginia, Miami, and Alabama for their out of conference schedules and the rosters they've assembled.
They're tying Duke, Kansas, and Kentucky for most featured in early season ESPN spotlight games.

Exhibition went as expected.
Duke is a national championship level team. Lengthy, athletic, and talented. Doesn't get better than that.
Stokes is pretty much impossible to stay in front of. He will live at the free throw line all year. Jayhawks could really use TKR.
Preseason pick: Florida for Overall 1, but Duke to win the national championship.
Blue Devils visit Kansas on ESPN today.
Oklahoma State - Tulsa is the only football game on ESPNU this season to outdraw Louisville at Kansas exhibition basketball.
These extra exhibition games are great programming for ESPN.
One GM: “It’s mercenary off-brand G League basketball.”
Curious what that person thought they were viewing the last few years.
College basketball hasn't been "college" basketball as of late.
Trey Kaufman-Renn gives Kansas a better chance to bounce back in March.
But is this injunction-driven roster build really how Bill Self should want his final chapter to look?

Before this year's college basketball season starts, a quick reminder that the national champion in April is always awesome in November.
The season can turn into a grind, but national championship teams always showcase themselves in November when they're fresh and motivated.
BYU is leading the CFP chase, followed closely by Miami and Ohio State.
Utah, Alabama, and Wake Forest are knocking on the door of the field.
It makes no sense to keep paying revenue share for a program when the only reason you haven't fired the coach is the buyout cost.
If the buyout is too much, then you shouldn't be digging an even deeper hole to climb out of.
Either save $ to start fresh or find the buyout cash.
