Steve Wilks is expected to be on the field coaching with the Commanders' defensive staff this Sunday night, a source tells me.
More context:
Wilks was hired earlier this month to help as an advisor. Original reports suggested he wouldn't be around on game days. That part appears to have changed.
There are still some details being ironed out with Appalachian State that will free him up for the added NFL responsibilities.
He's popular with coaches and players in the building and it sounds like the Commanders want him around more. At this point, I'd expect to see him on the sideline coaching this weekend against the Eagles and moving forward.

No, the Commanders should not have traded for Quenton Nelson. They should not be trading for anyone. They are 1-4-1 and in 16th place out of 16 teams in the NFC.
Trade: Colts have agreed to send eight-time Pro-Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks, per me and @rapsheet. Nelson is on an expiring contract and the Colts are opting to get back draft capital now before they could lose him in free agency.
But an all-time Colt now moves on to the Seahawks.
