Australian wheat farmers have been achieving phenomenal productivity progress despite challenging seasonal conditions and some of the world’s most difficult soil types to work with. Since the 1980s, innovation has helped lift yields even as growing season rainfall has fallen in some regions. The gains in production have added around 15 million extra tons of wheat production annually. Peter Hobson’s Reuters article is a great read on developments in Australian cropping — ideal for your commute.

A summary of my son's first game refereeing a game this morning. For reference my son is 15, it was an U9 game and my son has no connection to either clubs.
He's been called a "a blatant cheat" "blind" "stupid" "doesn't know what he's doing"
In addition he's been spoken to in a manner I can only describe as aggressive and Intimidating for things like giving a throw, allowing a player to re take a foul throw, not giving a penalty when a child tripped on the ball and was not fouled.
My son left the pitch today and said this to me in the car, I'm never doing that again, kids were great, adults were absolutely disgusting. No wonder we struggle for refs.

A different perspective on the Transnistria events from Moldova's former minister of reintegration Alexandru Flenchea: Russia was not involved in the Congress on 28 Feb. Instead it was all organised by the monopoly Sheriff, which is incompatible with economic reintegration

February 2024
In the 29 days of February 288 ships sailed inbound (4x BSGI) and 284 ships sailed outbound (3.4x BSGI). This works out to just under 10 ships per day in and out of #UkriCor.
7.9 ships per day delivered their cargo to countries around the world and for the first time we reported on ships delivering cargo to Ukraine. We believe at least 28 ships have delivered cargo to Ukraine during February.
We are approaching a time when we can say that trips in and out of Ukrainian Odesa area ports are influenced by all the same forces you would expect for any other port.

There is a lot of Ukrainian farmer bashing going on currently, here are my thoughts:
1) Ukrainian farmers get in some cases <$100/tonne for their corn (~$2.50/bu). They receive the lowest grain price in the world in the most challenging conditions in the world. I challenge any farmer anywhere else to choose to swap places with them.
2) if there was no war even more grain would flow from there
3) Current price falls have almost nothing to do with Ukraine, it is all to do with sh**ty demand, large South American and Russian crops and large US corn stocks following record yields
4) Farmers blaming Ukraine just because they got greedy and missed the boat with crappy or non existent marketing plan is not a Ukrainian farmers fault.
5) Blocking Ukrainian exports now only defers the problem to new crop when there will be even more pressure - the long term solution is allow Ukraine get its grain into the bellies of pigs in Asia so it is gone for good.
6) Ask yourself, the hard question: am I scapegoating Ukraine because I was ill-informed and didn't sell or I got greedy and didn't sell. The real answer as to why you own expensive grain today is one of these two - not Ukraine or anyone else. Thankfully, if you are humble, accept where you went wrong you can fix the problem by getting better advice and being more open minded.

ABSOLUTELY unacceptable! Russia came and captured UKRAINIAN Melitopol and all that was there, with investments, production and etc and now this booth is at @Gulfood. SHAME!!!!!
Shame on @gulfood for supporting russia's war in Ukraine, by accepting this booth design at the world's biggest food fair they express support to russia and its absolutely unacceptable actions. Melitopol is Ukraine not russia!

The DAP price of #wheat in the port of Constanța fell below the 200 EUR/mt mark yesterday, now 85 EUR/mt below the level of February 2023. Due to the competitive pressure exerted by the cheaper #russianwheat in the #CVBports, the commercial activity is reduced at a minimum.

Interesting to hear @TuckerCarlson claim that “no western journalist has bothered to interview” Putin since the invasion of Ukraine. We’ve lodged several requests with the Kremlin in the last 18 months. Always a ‘no’ for us.

Ukraine #grain exports hit the highest level since March 2023 even though the grain deal stopped last summer. We thought the Kremlin would try harder to disrupt them, but it hasn't happened (so far).
#Corn accounts for 50%+ of the volume.
