🌿🌳 Growing Urban Forests at Panchgaon | A Greener Future with Fluor 🌳🌿 A meaningful tree plantation drive was organised at Panchgaon with the dedicated participation of 50 volunteers from Fluor, in collaboration with Green Yatra. 🌱 In a collective effort towards environmental sustainability, we are undertaking a tree plantation initiative at Panchgaon, Gurgaon, with the support of our CSR partner, @FluorCorp 🌱💚 Through this initiative, we are working towards planting 2,600+ saplings with the Fluor team, contributing to urban greening and the development of a greener, healthier environment in Delhi NCR. 🌳 🌍 Why Urban Miyawaki Forests Matter As Delhi-NCR faces rising temperatures, the urban heat island effect, and persistent air pollution, developing dense green spaces is increasingly important. The Miyawaki method enables the creation of dense, diverse native forests in relatively small urban spaces. These urban forests can help: 🌱 Mitigate the Urban Heat Island Effect: Tree cover provides shade and supports local cooling through evapotranspiration, helping reduce heat exposure in urban areas. 🌿 Improve Air Quality: Trees can capture some airborne particulate matter and absorb certain gaseous pollutants, contributing to cleaner surroundings. 🦋 Support Biodiversity: Diverse native vegetation creates habitats and food sources for birds, butterflies, pollinators, and other wildlife. 🌳 Strengthen Urban Green Cover: Dense native plantations help restore degraded spaces and bring nature closer to communities. A heartfelt thank you to Fluor and its dedicated volunteer team for supporting this green initiative. Your commitment demonstrates how corporate partnerships and community participation can drive meaningful environmental action. 💚 Together, we are not just planting saplings, but we are nurturing urban forests, strengthening ecological resilience, and sowing the seeds of a sustainable future. 🌍✨ #GreenYatra #Fluor #MiyawakiForest #UrbanForests #Panchgaon #DelhiNCR #TreePlantation #UrbanHeatIsland #AirPollution #Biodiversity #ClimateAction #CorporateVolunteering #NatureRestoration #Sustainability #GreenerFuture

One Step Closer to our Dream Project: The Iconic Powai Lake Powai Lake is more than an urban water body. It is a vital part of Mumbai's natural landscape, supporting biodiversity and strengthening the city's environmental and water resilience. As part of the Ecological Restoration of Powai Lake, Green Yatra is beginning with a strong scientific foundation. This is an iconic project for the organisation, bringing 18 years of leading ecological restoration in India to one of Mumbai's most visible lakes. Every decision will be guided by scientific evidence, advanced technology and expert insight, complemented by India’s traditional ecological wisdom—ensuring that restoration responds to the lake’s specific needs. Because restoring a lake is not only about improving water quality. It is about understanding the ecosystem as a whole and helping it recover and thrive over time. We are deeply grateful to BMC to trust on us and , IIT Bombay, BNHS, CSR Partner DCB Bank and all the experts whose guidance, expertise and support are helping us undertake this monumental ecological restoration effort. #PowaiLake #GreenYatra #EcologicalRestoration #Biodiversity #Mumbai

#RememberingNanaPatekar Heartfelt condolences on the passing of Nana Patekar Ji. We all knew him as a remarkable actor whose powerful performances left an enduring mark on Indian cinema. But many few of us know that beyond the screen was another side of Nana Patekar that deserves equal remembrance. He was deeply involved in social and humanitarian work. As chairman of @NaamFoundation , alongside Makarand Anaspure, he worked to support drought-affected farmers, families facing agrarian distress and rural communities across Maharashtra. The Foundation’s work expanded into areas such as water conservation, livelihood support and rural development. For someone celebrated so widely for his cinema, his commitment to communities on the ground was equally meaningful. His passing is therefore not only a profound loss to Indian cinema, but also a significant loss to India’s social sector. From all of us at Green Yatra, we salute his legacy and lifelong commitment to the social sector. Rest in peace, Nana Patekar. Your contribution, on screen and beyond, will be remembered. 🙏 #nanapatekar #naamfoundation #SocialService #RuralDevelopment #FarmerWelfare

#UrbanEcosystem #UrbanForest 🌿 6,126 sq. m. 8,000 native saplings. 93 local native species. One urban garden becoming a richer living ecosystem. At Adya Krantiveer Vasudev Balwant Phadke Udyan, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, Green Yatra is restoring biodiversity within an established public garden through native planting and habitat-focused interventions. Public Urban Forest is Green Yatra’s flagship programme, designed to bring native forests back into growing cities. As urbanisation reduces green cover and fragments natural habitats, these forests create space for native biodiversity, improve the local microclimate and reconnect people with nature. The project brings together a Miyawaki forest, pollinator garden, medicinal garden, flowering clusters, state tree plantation and dense native plantation, creating different layers and habitats within the same urban landscape. And the change is already visible. After 12 months, the plantation has developed a dense, continuous canopy, with vegetation reaching approximately 6 to 15 ft. On-ground observations also recorded the emerging green space at around 2 to 3°C cooler than surrounding exposed areas. Supported by #RBLBank and implemented by Green Yatra, the project demonstrates how an existing public garden can be strengthened as a space for native biodiversity, habitat creation and a healthier urban microclimate. Grateful to #PanvelMunicipalCorporation for their continued support towards urban ecological restoration. Real work. Real places. Real proof. #GreenYatra #RBLBank #UrbanEcosystem #UrbanForest #Kharghar #NaviMumbai #BiodiversityGarden #CSRIndia #EcologicalRestoration #UrbanBiodiversity #NativeSpecies #MiyawakiForest #PublicUrbanForest #NatureInCities

Wild mammals account for roughly 5% of the total biomass (weight) of all mammals on Earth. Rest of the 95% constitutes of Human and Livestock. Therefore, this Wildlife Week, Green Yatra highlights everyday wildlife and the habitats that support it. Understanding where species live, what they need, and how they interact with their surroundings is an important part of conservation. Wildlife is not limited to forests and protected areas. It is also present in the spaces around us. A bee moving between flowers, a squirrel foraging near a tree, a kingfisher waiting on a perch, or an otter moving through a wetland are all part of the ecosystems we depend on. #WildlifeWeek #GreenYatra #Biodiversity #EcologicalRestoration #UrbanBiodiversity #NatureInTheCity #WildlifeIndia

#UrbanEcosystem #NatureInteractionPark 🌿 6,942 sq. m. 4,462 saplings. 97 species. One space designed to bring people and nature closer. At Mahaveer Udyan, Bajaj Nagar, Jaipur, Green Yatra is developing a Nature Interaction Park where ecological restoration meets public interaction with nature. The landscape includes 2,500 saplings planted using the Miyawaki method and 1,962 saplings through conventional and other plantation methods, representing 97 species. A Nature Interaction Park goes beyond adding green cover. It creates an accessible space where people can observe native vegetation, experience biodiversity and build a stronger connection with urban nature. As the vegetation develops, it can also provide habitat for birds, butterflies and pollinators, improve shade and microclimate, and create opportunities for nature-based learning and recreation. In a growing city, spaces like Mahaveer Udyan bring ecological functions and everyday public life into the same landscape. Real work. Real places. Real proof. Key Benefits of a Nature Interaction Centre 🌿 Connects People with Nature through direct interaction with green spaces. 🦋 Supports Urban Biodiversity by creating habitat for birds, butterflies and pollinators. 🌳 Improves Urban Microclimate through increased green cover and shade. 📚 Encourages Nature-Based Learning and environmental awareness. 🚶 Creates Recreational Green Space for walking, relaxation and nature observation. 🌱 Strengthens Ecological Functions through diverse, native vegetation. #GreenYatra #MahaveerUdyan #Jaipur #UrbanEcosystem #NatureInteractionPark #UrbanBiodiversity #EcologicalRestoration #UrbanGreening #MiyawakiForest #NatureEducation #Rajasthan

Urban #Depaving to Public Urban Forest 🌱 Green Yatra believes that “Every unnecessary square metre of concrete is an opportunity to restore soil, recharge groundwater, grow trees and bring nature back into the city.” With this philosophy, we take on challenging urban spaces and transform them into natural oases—bringing back lost native green spaces, restoring ecological functions and enhancing urban biodiversity. We are proud to have successfully executed this Urban Depaving to Public Urban Forest project in Ahmedabad, in collaboration with our oldest and trusted CSR partner DCB Bank and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. The project transforms a previously hard-surfaced urban space into a green public landscape, demonstrating how depaving can create opportunities for native plantation, groundwater recharge, biodiversity enhancement, cooling and healthier urban environments. The project was inaugurated by the Hon. Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra Bhai Patel, marking an important step towards creating greener and more climate-resilient cities. Depave. Restore. Rewild. Reconnect. 🌳 What is Depaving? Depaving is the process of removing unnecessary concrete, asphalt, paver blocks, or other hard surfaces and replacing them with permeable, natural, or green surfaces such as soil, grass, native plants, rain gardens, trees, or other ecological landscapes. In simple terms: “Remove unnecessary hard surfaces → restore soil → bring back water, vegetation and biodiversity.” #GreenYatra #UrbanDepaving #UrbanForest #UrbanGreening #NativeTrees #UrbanBiodiversity #EcologicalRestoration #ClimateResilientCities #Ahmedabad #CSR #DCBBank #AhmedabadMunicipalCorporation #NatureCentricApproach

305 CRORE + LITRES OF WATER CONSERVATION TELLS A STORY. A lake rarely comes back to life on its own. Across Maharashtra and Telangana, Green Yatra's #lakeandpondrestoration projects have shown that reviving a lake means responding to what that specific water body needs, not applying one fixed method everywhere. A floating island here, a nesting ground for birds there, open space for a community to gather where none existed before. This World Lake Day, our thriving restored sites are a reminder that restoration is not one fixed formula. It is a response, built lake by lake. 18 years of knowing the difference. #WorldLakeDay #GreenYatra #LakeRestoration

This Independence Day, we're asking a different question: what is the cost of freedom for the land beneath our feet? For 18 years, Green Yatra has worked to give that answer back to nature, one forest, one wetland, one shoreline at a time. Because a nation's freedom was never meant to come at its ecosystems' expense. Real freedom is a forest that's allowed to grow wild. A river that's allowed to flow clean. A coastline that's allowed to hold its ground. This year, we choose to celebrate both. #IndependenceDay #AzaadiForNature #GreenYatra #EnvironmentalAction #RestoreIndia

Maybe biodiversity has more superheroes than Hollywood told us. Spider-Man protects the city, real spiders help protect the balance of nature. Tiny spiders can use "ballooning" to travel through the atmosphere. They release silk threads that catch air currents and can carry them kilometres away, sometimes even across oceans. Beyond their aerial feats, spiders quietly regulate pest populations, support pollination cycles and hold entire food webs together. On Green Yatra's project sites, they are a sign of a thriving, balanced ecosystem. No cape. No city to save. Just an ecosystem to keep in balance, one thread at a time. Swipe to meet a few of the real superheroes spotted across our sites. #GreenYatra #Biodiversity #SpiderMan #UrbanEcosystems #NaturesSuperheroes

This is the story of Shri Gopinath Munde Garden. For two years during the pandemic, it went quiet. No maintenance, no care, no one watching it struggle. @Greenyatra returned to rebuild it from the soil up: de-weeding, soil rehabilitation, nearly 20,000 saplings, with 160+ native species. Interventions like miyawaki forest, lawn, bamboo arboretum, native flowering, rare & endangered tree species bank, state tree gallery, colorful tree cluster, yoga zone, meditation zone, peace zone, cultural van and much more went into transforming this space into a public urban forest. Special thanks to Pune Municipal Corporation for the hardscape, open gym, pathways, and children's play area. It is projected to sequester over 4 lakh kg of CO₂ and now welcomes visitors every day, just outside Saswad. Some recoveries take three years. All of them start with someone deciding to come back. Grateful to @PMCPune for the collaboration, and to our CSR partner @PTC for making this restoration possible.
