I’m Greg. Programmer, poker player, and golf fanatic. I'm building @evlighthouse—a lightweight, web-based tracker for online poker. I’ll be sharing dev updates, poker stories, and the reality of building SaaS from scratch. If you're into data, poker, or micro-SaaS, hop on 🚂

Productive day yesterday. Bagging slightly above average for day 2 of the main event. #aptjeju2026

The fear: Who will pay for my Saas if random Joe can vibe code it in a few days ? The answer: Who goes to the restaurant when you can cook everything yourself at home? AI is not killing the software market, it's making it higher value for the customers

Time to put in a bit of study ahead of APT Jeju. What does that look like for me ? Usually I just go through the fundamentals in order of when they come up through a hand. I study ranges on GTO Wizard and setup some drills to check my leaks.

I don't really spend too much time studying individual hands, and instead look for general concepts I can re-apply. Fire up two identical sims, then change one small parameter (stack size, position, board texture etc.) There is no way I can remember what given combos do.

The fundamentals: Preflop RFI, Blinds defense, 3b IP and OOP, 3B defense. Cbet heuristics (IP and OOP) and Cbet defense. Turn and river sizings vs runouts. And finally ICM impact for small/medium/large stacks.

A cool thing about live poker is it teaches you how to handle stress. If you're sweating every decision and worrying about worst cases, you'll quickly get exhausted and won't be able to play with your A-game for long. And MTTs are often 12+ hour days...

Why build a web-based poker tracker instead of a native desktop app? Accessibility and speed. I think modern web frameworks are now capable of handling heavy calculations smoothly in-browser without forcing users to manage their own local DB

Pretty cool how you can qualify online for just 40$ Who else is excited for #APTJeju2026 ?

I'm still amazed at the different ways AI can help you launch your business. Coding of course, but also legal, design, marketing (this post is AI free, promise 😅). Flipside is you have to know what you want, or you end up with a lot of useless fluff.

I'm working on a Range visualizer to know exactly how I play each spot, pre and post flop. Visuals are kinda cool, but the main thing this tells me is that I need to record more hands. I've not even been dealt each combo in the grid at each position !

Until I have a bigger hand DB, the stack filters won't be of much use either... Who wants to give it a try ?

As a home dev who plays poker, I wanted a lightweight, browser-based, and modern solution to track my sessions So I'm building @evlighthouse myself. The objective is to build a tool that makes me want to improve and play more.

Would you rather FT the WSOP main event and bust 9th, or win a bracelet at another event (assume equal payout)?

Poker beginners all ask the same questions: how do I study, how do I improve. If you're playing online, first order of business is to track your play and compare to a solid baseline. Are you raising enough, defending your BB enough, calling enough IP ?

It's not easy to structure the data, there is an infinite amount of situations, including unconventional play from rec players. Start by looking by position, then split by situation: limped pot, unopened pot, one raise behind, etc. And sort by most occurences. Study that first.

Exciting new features coming soon to strengthen our free tier: Revamp of our statistics page, and a brand new deep dive range analysis tool. Stay tuned.

I don't get why people want to give a bad rep to builders who use AI. It's like saying to a writer "Bro you should stop typing on your laptop and pick up a quill and some ink". Hardcore isn't the only way.

Finding tournaments history on poker sites can be messy. I love how easy it is to review individual hands or full tournaments with our hand replayer. I'm only building features that I genuinely use and make my life easier.

Why build another poker tracker when many already exist ? It's a good learning experience for me, and I'm tailoring it to a subset of players. If you want a straightforward, cross platform and lightweight experience, come check us out.
