I read all the documents that dropped today about the confession of Brian J. Cole, Jr., the J5 pipe bomber, including this transcript of his four hour interview. I'll have a full review tomorrow on Substack, but here are just a few highlights. - Cole is clearly lucid and intelligent during the interview phase of the discussion. He described to agents how he built his own PC for gaming. He also was able to create a false story about why he was at the Capitol that night, and described how he lied to his mother about where he was going. - Before he confessed, he was shown a pair of the Nike's the bomber wore and admitted he once owned them and that he purchased from either Dick's or the Nike Outlet, with a specific Bank One card. - Later, he admitted wearing them on J5, because he'd not worn them in a long time, so he figured nobody would recognize him. - He asked the agents if there was a chance he was innocent. That's not what a typically innocent person asks. - He said, "I like talking to you guys," and "Alright, I want to keep talking to you guys." Hardly the torture some people are posting about here. - Last thing for now, "I don't know how many times I wanted to turn myself in." That's not something innocent people typically think about.
