As a Poughkeepsie City Councilmember, the workers at Local Progress have been so supportive as I try to find progressive policy solutions to help my constituents. Please join me in donating to their strike fund! ✊

In response to Management’s refusal to abandon their fixed positions and engage in reciprocal movement, the Guild has decided to strike today, October 29.
The LP Guild has negotiated in good faith, made concessions, and demonstrated a willingness to move. But the ability to reach a contract cannot depend on workers continually finding new ways to accommodate management's priorities without reciprocal movement.

We so appreciate the words of support from @jguzmanlaw, School Committee Board Member in Lawrence, MA and Nuestro Caucus leader.
Join us in calling on LP management to abandon its fixed positions to reach a compromise and finalize the collective bargaining agreement!
"None of this work happens without the dedication, expertise, and tireless efforts of LP staff. They deserve to be recognized, respected, and fairly compensated." Thank you Providence City Councilmember Miguel Sanchez for standing with the LP Guild!
LP Management says that they want to resolve the contract quickly, but their actions show us otherwise.
The Guild has presented 3 packages, offering reciprocal movement on our priorities, and proposed 9 hours of time to meet this week for bargaining.
Management announced that they will only be bargaining outside of work hours moving forward, and accepted just one hour to meet. Since we began bargaining at the beginning of the year, we have historically only met during work hours.
Shout out to Amanda Barber, Wilkinsburg School Board President, for sending in your words of support for the LP Guild!
We are still fighting for a fair contract, working to reach a compromise and finalize our second collective bargaining agreement.
Thank you to LP Member and Ithaca City Common Council @JorgeDeFendini for your words of support! ❤️ The LP Guild is so proud of LP's mission and of the members whose work we have the privilege of supporting.

ALT "When I was first elected to Ithaca Common Council in 2022, it was easy to feel alone and in over my head. I was 22 years old, and expected to represent hundreds of my constituents as a part time city Councilor with no staff. Local Progress were there for me; they said "treat us like your staff," and they've been invaluable ever since. LP Staff have helped me navigate the halls of government and assisted me in crafting transformative legislation on worker protections, social justice, and public safety. They deserve a renewed contract with higher pay for the incredible work they done supporting me and local progressives across the country!"
Since February, over two-thirds of the new collective bargaining agreement has been tentatively settled. This includes protecting the 4-day work week, fair comp time policies, and compensation for second languages. But after 30 bargaining sessions, negotiations have stalled.
We’re calling on Local Progress management to abandon its fixed positions and engage in reciprocal movement on remaining priorities to reach a compromise and finalize the collective bargaining agreement.
