🔐 College students authenticate ~77 times a day and spend ~14 minutes doing it, more time than they spend on calls & email! Catherine Barwulor presented this work at #HFES2026
62% of students hit a problem while authenticating: forgotten passwords, 2FA delays, biometric false rejections. With Christopher Kalahiki, Emily Sidnam-Mauch, Carlos Toxtli & Kelly Caine. Supported by @NSF #UsableSecurity
🏆 Congrats to Hansen Lee on the @HFES USE TG Best Student Paper Award at #HFES2026! SampleSavvy helps novice researchers plan sample sizes with a guided, step-by-step power analysis tool. doi.org/10.1177/107118132614…
With co-authors Emily Sidnam-Mauch, Susan McGregor (@Columbia), Bart Knijnenburg & Kelly Caine. In a think-aloud study, 6 of 7 users found it more intuitive than G*Power. Supported by @NSF #2232690 #HCI #HumanFactors #ClemsonUniversity
At #RecSys2026, Dr. Bart Knijnenburg’s #IntRS keynote argued that LLMs are accelerating an “anti-human turn.” His message: don’t replace human autonomy with automated LLMs; create conversational experiences that help people explore, understand & develop their preferences.
Congratulations to Hansen Lee on successfully presenting his Ph.D. Dissertation Proposal! 🎉
