Pure insanity in crypto: the biggest hack EVER on Binance. Here's the summary:
According to Arkham:
- ETH: 462.6K across 11 addresses, about $1.04B
- BTC: 18,270 across 19 addresses, about $1.42B, none of it moved yet
- Other tokens (XAUT, WBETH, ENA and others): about $0.40B
- Frozen USDT and USDC: about $2.20B, which he can't touch
Binance worked with tether/circle to freeze USDT and USDC stables immediately, hacker still borrowed $44M ETH against stables on AAVE, no intention to repay.
AAVE (and Binance) temporarily frozen. Arbitrum froze $30M on its chain.
CZ quoted an estimate that the loss was down to about $1B after the freezes and wrote "Loss might be a bit higher than that, but will cover."

Coins that someone else can freeze or lose aren't really yours. somehow, people will see this and still beg for centralized exchanges.
The freeze button saved $3B of stablecoins at Binance, that same button can be pressed on anyone.
The hacker still walked off with around $2.9B in BTC and ETH, biggest hack in the world by present value, bigger than ByBit or Mtgox
Self custody on a chain you can't freeze, like Ethereum or PulseChain, is the purpose of crypto. expect the hacks to continue
If you're still rooting for centralized exchanges and corrupt middlemen in 2026 we are not the same.

Ethereum, Solana, Don't open up your metamask for a while, and if it's open, close it. Their infra got hacked. Which means the chances of someone pushing an evil update are probably higher.
I tell everyone how to do things better, but they don't listen, lol. Auto-updates are a huge security risk.
This is why the software at PulseChain, PulseX, HEX, is software you can download and not worry about it autoupdating on you.
Hopefully metamask gets it all sorted, but even if they do, autoupdate will still always be a threat to you.

What I found is that the external dependency of the firmware with the critical vulnerability hidden in it was written by CoinKite's CTO @DocHex pretending to be someone else.
