Dr. Paulo Caceres, Ph.D. @Paulo96311850, from our division has been named PI in two federal grants from NIH. Both starting in August 2023, a five-year R35 award from #NIGMS and a three-year R21 #award from #NIDDK, will study epithelium-microvasculature interaction in the #kidney.

Congratulations Sumit Monu @SumitRa51243775, @313Kidney! Reduced GFR in hypertensive adult ALMS1 KO Dahl SS rats is associated with lower interstitial hydrostatic pressure, higher tubuloglomerular feedback sensitivity, and #glomerular damage/#proteinuria
Congratulations on the R35 grant, Dr. Caceres! @HenryFordHealth @GradPhysiology
Really excited about our newly funded project to study mechanisms of polarity in proximal tubule and other epithelia. Thank you @NIGMS!! Many thanks to @313Kidney and @HFHypertension for all the support!!

Patients with difficult‐to‐control hypertension despite optimal medical therapy and following a low salt diet have elevated levels of inflammatory gene transcripts. #AHAJournals @HFHNephFellow @313kidney ahajrnls.org/3JzndWT

Congrats Dr Kausik Umanath and team in @HFHypertension @HFHNephFellow and TCRC @HenryFordHealth on a great translational study showing specific gene pathways activated in difficult to control hypertension.
Hamid Suhail and colleagues present a new study: increased bioavailability of endogenous Ac-#SDKP caused by knocking out ACE-N improves LV #cardiac function in mice post-MI, which is likely mediated by minimally reduced expression of #SERCA2. @NourRhaleb

New research article alert! The role of cGMP-dependent increase in #NKCC2 #ubiquitination is mediated by the #Cullin-RING E3 ubiquitin ligase in Sprague Dawley TAL epithelium. Congratulations, Dr. Gustavo Ares! #kidneyInCVD @HFHypertension @GradPhysiology
Congratulations, @Mottillo_Lab! The review covers:
·Adipose Tissue as a Modulator of Energy Homeostasis
·Metabolic Redox Reactions in Thermogenic Adipose Tissue
·Manipulating Adipose Redox Mechanisms as Potential ·Metabolic Disease Therapies
·Conclusions and Future Perspectives
Our review is now online that explores redox mechnisms in adipose tissue and their thereapeutic benefits. Led by Ashley Putman.

Overexpression of EP3 in the cardiomyocytes reduces cardiac function under basal conditions (increased cardiac hypertrophy, interstitial collagen fraction, macrophage, and T-cell infiltration) and this is exacerbated after myocardial infarction #prostaglandin
Please to announce our manuscript was accepted in Life Sciences.authors.elsevier.com/c/1gFjn…
Please join us in congratulating Bipradas Roy who successfully defended his dissertation today!
Congratulations Bipradas and congratulations to your mentor, Dr. Suresh Palaniyandi! @GradPhysiology @WayneGradSchool @HenryFordHealth
Tune in tomorrow to hear some exciting new science from Bipradas Roy's public dissertation defense. Good luck Bipradas! @HFHypertension @GradPhysiology @WSUResearch @Punom0173726079
Support the Metro Detroit Heart & Stroke Walk on Saturday! This effort provides awareness and raises much-needed funds for heart disease and stroke research, as well as educational programs for our community. Our coach - Tim Bryson @tbryson9690 @HeartNews
