Sonic Team Head Takashi Iizuka says he's had to fight for the series not to get cancelled at different times:
“There had been good times, and there had been bad times.
During the worst times, I was told by the higher-ups that we should cancel the entire franchise. I had to fight within the organization to keep the franchise as long as possible.”

In a new interview Korean video game news site InvenGlobal conducted with Takashi Iizuka and Kazuyuki Hoshino, Iizuka seemingly says that #SonicRacingCrossWorlds collaborated with...Indiana Jones. #SonicNews
No such collab has been announced, so either InvenGlobal made a mistake in their transcription of the interview, or...Iizuka accidentally leaked Year 2 DLC.
He states it alongside previously released DLC, so it's likely just a transcription error or a misspeak.
