"It makes no sense to amend the state constitution to commit to a tax increase now, five years in advance, when we have no idea what condition the state will be in when the tax would take effect....Let the 'emergency tax' expire on schedule. NO on Prop 3." edsource.org/2026/commentary…

Vote yes on Proposition 42, a constitutional amendment that prohibits taxes on assets like whatever kind of "new tax" this guy and his rapacious allies want to impose. They'll all want "theirs." The wealth tax on the current ballot, Prop. 40, only feeds one of them.
NEW: Xavier Becerra tells me he's preparing a new tax on California's wealthy. He'll also seriously consider new fees for drivers and corporations and will likely remove the CEO of the embattled High-Speed Rail if elected governor of California. kcra.com/article/xavier-bece…

While Xavier Becerra is a NO on Prop 40, the CA billionaire tax, he confirmed he's putting together his own wealth tax push if elected. Becerra said he's looking at income, not assets. "You want to make sure it's something that's fair, it's predictable, and it's stable."

Fixing California’s insurance market is not only about insurance rates. Steven Greenhut also examines home hardening, wildfire mitigation and market-based approaches that connect insurance pricing with efforts to reduce risk. Greenhut highlights approaches that can better reflect the benefits of risk reduction while encouraging homeowners and communities to invest in wildfire mitigation.

A mileage tax in California? Xavier Becerra says he would consider it, "everything should be on the table" to maintain roads and bridges. "Do I want to tax people more than necessary? No.. Should people who drive EVs who don't need gas pay for those roads? Absolutely."

Looks like the two SEIU-UHW propositions, 40 and 44, are going to lose. That would make the union 0-5 since 2018 when it lost the first of three kidney dialysis initiatives it sponsored. Maybe stick to collective bargaining and leave us voters alone?

Scaremongering debunked. Transit expert Tom Rubin daylights the dubious logic of SPUR's RTM "carmageddon" report: "SPUR is describing an absolute worst-case scenario that assumes that no actions are taken by the private parties, let alone by the agencies themselves, to adjust their service." opportunitynowsv.org/blog/-f…
