Having said all this...
Gaza is not geographically identical to the Isle of Wight. The attackers weren't one conventional military formation, and the numbers include people who weren't armed combatants.
But the geographical and numerical comparison helps explain the scale.
Palestinians led by Hamas did this, they filmed what they did with pride. They're now being hunted down for what they did. Some would call the Israel response genocide, some would call it justice, some would call it revenge. Whatever it is, I fully support it.
Sometimes I think I bang the drum too much about support my for Israel, then I remember Oct 7th and the horrors that Palestinian civilians led by Hamas visited upon them. We can't bang the drum loud enough.
