One of my recent side project ideas (to stay sharp in consumer growth) was on-demand Instagram account monitoring. Why is it interesting? It plays on relationship jealousy, the emotional vector here is incredibly strong, and certain app features can easily be unlocked through sharing mechanics. My outline was simple: Create a very simple app (the core idea is easy to implement) that just needs one viral reel, then leverage sharing to unlock features, and implement weekly subscriptions since churn is very high for this type of app (look at Reports+ with their 6-digit user base and impressive MRR, despite looking somewhat sketchy). I started working on it but never finished due to time constraints. Why bring it up now? Because someone launched something similar a few weeks ago. Their Instagram marketing is simple but effective (after 2 months, they got their first major viral reel this week). They built a clean app that inspires trust and actually seems to work (unlike others in this vertical who deal with numerous chargebacks). The downsides? Their entry price is too high ($30/year - psychologically much harder to accept than a weekly subscription, which would better capitalize on the jealousy aspect. Think about it: the typical user pays when suspicious, then comes back 3 months later for another week when suspicions arise again). Also, they're not aggressive enough with reels. The weekly subscription model works particularly well here because it aligns with the sporadic nature of user need, people don't need constant monitoring, but rather burst access during periods of suspicion. I’ll share the project link in the replies.

In August, I wrote about memecoins as vectors for political messages. This is exactly the case with @weloveconan I aped.
