Our planet's future depends on the health of our oceans.
The @ukgovbluebelt programme is leading the way, with the world's largest marine protected area network.
This means more space for ocean species to thrive, free from illegal fishing and detrimental resource extraction.

These protections will help safeguard core habitats of marine species such as penguins and seals.
It will also create safe migratory pathways to ensure that returning humpback, blue, and fin whales can access krill without threats from fishing vessels. 🐳 pew.org/3Ta2WMn

Great news! Marine protections have been vastly expanded in the waters surrounding South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.
This area is home to some of the most varied wildlife on the planet. 👉 pew.org/3Ta2WMn

As Governor, I want to say a big thank you to @PlasticOdyssey for helping to clean & protect Henderson Island’s unique environment.
Plastic rubbish washes up from all over the globe on this uninhabited Pacific island, making it one of the world’s most polluted coastlines 🇵🇳
Cleaning up the world's most plastic-polluted sanctuary! 🌎
We’ve already collected and removed tons of plastic from the 2019 expedition off the coral reef to the Plastic Odyssey vessel for recycling.
