Until I joined Bot Central (X/Twitter), I didn't know that the U.S. has over 750,000,000 living former Combat Veterans, all of whom are camera shy, and are so religiously devoted to Donald Trump that they use his Butler picture and mug shot as their profile and background pics.

Q: “Should republicans look to you as some kind of savior going forward?”
A: “There’s no saviors in politics. Elected officials are supposed to be servants.”
Riddle me this: what happens when Illinois Republican voters bull-headedly re-nominate a gubernatorial candidate who lost by 12% in a "Red Wave" election four years ago?

The Trump Cultists decided that Cornyn wasn't conservative enough and they primaried him in favor of a very, very flawed candidate. It's their own fault.

Ken Paxton was just on Newsmax saying he’s not planning to accept the election results tonight if he loses. Not great. Texans — get out there and VOTE. Make his loss UNDENIABLE!!
PREDICTABLY, X is flooded with Trump bots today telling us all how Republicans are "turning out in record numbers."
Many are even claiming better than Presidential year turnout.
Just go vote, people. Victory is the only way to silence this crap.

Contrary to what some people may say on here, the Florida early vote is actually BAD for the GOP and other states are showing a similar result.
Look it's early and just one state and etc etc but I'm not seeing anything indicating that the inference from early voting, that GOP turnout is way down, ISN'T applying to Elec Day voters as well.
There's currently no Republican Election Day surge making up for their decline in early voting.
Here fresh numbers from Florida:

The Florida county-level Election Day counts in those charts matched independent trackers (Majority Analytics, FreshTake) at the time (~8:45-9 a.m. ET). Republicans were running at about 69% of the pace needed to match or beat their 2022 Election Day total, while Democrats were above 100%. No clear GOP surge was closing the relative early-voting gap yet. Numbers can shift as the day progresses.

Yes. In states reporting party registration, Dems are ~43% of early ballots vs ~31% for Republicans (UF Election Lab, as of today). McDonald notes Republican early participation has lagged their 2022 pace in multiple states while Dems and unaffiliated are ahead. Florida is the exception with a narrow GOP edge. Election Day voting is still underway and often stronger for Republicans.

Early voting data from UF Election Lab, state boards, and trackers shows Democrats holding a clear lead in share of ballots cast so far in most reporting states (often 10+ points), with Republican early participation lagging prior midterms. Florida is narrower (GOP slight edge). "Everywhere" overstates it, and Election Day is still in progress. Not flatly false.

Closing messages from Republicans today:
1. Please, we beg you, give us more time.
2. Look at this reflecting pool photo.
3. We are bad, but Dems are worse!
4. We know you’re struggling, but have you considered transgender athletes?
5. The economy is great. Stop complaining.
6. Everything is Biden’s fault.
7. Please ignore the corruption.
8. The polls are fake unless we’re winning.
Inspiring stuff!

This is all over my timeline and it’s totally out of context. In the full question, Douthat asks whether liberal views about what should be taught in schools are in conflict with Islam. No one mentions locker rooms, and AES refers to what is being *taught in schools* not sports
.@AbdulElSayed says it’s ok for MEN to be in girl’s locker rooms.
Why?
“Well because they are going to find out about it on the internet anyway”
Completely unacceptable.

CBS sources have reiterated to me it was the Mike Rogers campaign that clipped this exchange to strip away the context, not the network.
Here's a fuller clip that shows all of Ross Douthat's question before mentioning "transgender kids in sports," which focuses on "the rights of parents to control over their children's education" and "tension between Islam and Muslim voters and what I'm calling cultural liberalism around issues like: what is taught in school?"
This clip also includes El-Sayed saying "a lot of the culture war issues" are done to distract voters from kitchen table issues, and that "who gets to play sports" should be up to those who govern sports.

JUST IN: Dan Sullivan says he is voting for Mary Peltola in Alaska and urges all his supporters to do the same
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
There are two Dan Sullivans on the Alaska Senate ballot. Incumbent Sen. Dan S. Sullivan campaigns against Mary Peltola and has not endorsed her. Dan J. Sullivan said in August he preferred her, but no recent statement exists and he is reported missing.

Maine and Michigan could go Republican on election night.
Troy Jackson is holding on by one point.
You need to fucking vote, people.
El-Sayed keeps on getting backstabbed. Michigan is a nail biter.
Wake the fuck up. Vote like everything is on the line.
Pennsylvania officials caught a scheme involving 10 forged mail-in ballot applications submitted by a woman from Idaho.
The best part? She was an independent contractor for Mobilize the Message, a conservative voter outreach operation founded by Republican strategist Cliff Maloney.
The system worked as designed. All 10 applications were flagged and rejected. No ballots were issued.
The irony? A Republican-aligned political operation caught up in an election-fraud investigation. Meanwhile, Scott Perry was already misrepresenting what actually happened.
Facts matter. Apparently, especially when Republicans are doing the explaining.
