⚠️ WARNING: UPSETTING FOOTAGE OF A MASS FUNERAL OF MURDERED CHRISTIANS IN ETHIOPIA ⚠️
More than 60 Orthodox Christians were killed in Ethiopia’s Oromia region in two attacks over the last week. Fourteen died on October 20 in Merti district. Another 46 were killed on October 24 in villages in Shirka district.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers surrounded the communities, went house to house with guns and knives, and burned homes. At least five of the dead were children. More than 20 people were wounded and 20 houses were destroyed.
The Ethiopian Orthodox Church called the attacks a massacre and said security forces reached the area but could not stop the killing. Residents described being completely unprepared. Survivors have fled.
This isn’t an isolated incident. The same region has seen repeated killings of Orthodox Christians over the past several years. The Church has said it has raised the insecurity with authorities multiple times without result. The people killed were civilians in their own villages. The attacks targeted them because of who they are.
Sixty people are dead. Their families are burying them in mass graves while the rest of the world continues as if nothing happened. That is the story.

This is really poor by @FA. The governing body is supposed to protect players. It should be disputing this regulatory commission verdict by members drawn from the FA judicial panel. Max Dowman could have suffered a bad injury to his standing leg from a dangerous challenge which went unpunished. Arsenal 16-year-old shouldn’t have reacted but his frustration was understandable. Some other players might have rolled around and ensured a bad challenge was punished. Dowman didn’t. He doesn’t stay down. The FA should have shown some understanding towards Dowman. Instead, it has suspended him for three games. FA priorities all wrong: tolerating a poor challenge and some weak refereeing but punishing a kid who objected to a bad challenge that could have dealt him a serious injury. Protect players. #AFC

🚨 NEW: Ofcom says all adults should have to use their ID to access social media.
• Ofcom has recommended four methods for verifying users’ ages ahead of the UK’s ban on social media for under-16s, which is due to come into force in March next year.
• The four methods suggested, subject to government approval, are photo ID matching, banking-based checks, live facial age estimation and digital ID.
• The regulator noted that verifying the ages of 16 and 17-year-olds is challenging because many do not have credit cards, full driving licences or passports.
• Ofcom chief executive Dame Melanie Dawes said the ban can work if firms carry out highly effective age checks, and that the regulator will take action against companies that fail to comply.

🚨 JUST IN: Man who fled the UK during an investigation found guilty of rape.
• Muhammed Khalid, 55, has been found guilty of five counts of rape, two counts of supplying Class A drugs and one count of sexual assault.
• West Yorkshire Police said the offences were carried out in the Kirklees area in the late 1990s and early 2000s against a vulnerable teenage girl.
• Khalid fled the country in 2020 while under investigation. He was arrested earlier this year at Manchester Airport shortly after he returned to the UK.
• He was also found not guilty of a further eight charges, including indecent assault, rape and trafficking persons within the UK for sexual exploitation.
• He is due to be sentenced at Leeds Crown Court on 24 November.

Iraqi asylum seeker Adil Sulamen, 38, has been jailed for 13 months after repeatedly making sexually abusive 999 calls, threatening to rape a hospital nurse, causing up to £10,000 in damage and spitting at a police officer.
Sulamen repeatedly called emergency services on 26 June, directing sexually explicit abuse at male and female operators.
In a series of calls, he told a female operator: "Suck my dick motherfucker, adding that if they kept ignoring him, he would carry out a sex act on them.
At around 6.20pm the same day, he called 999 again and told a male operator "suck my dick motherfucker, before repeatedly called him gay.
The following month, after being sectioned under the Mental Health Act, he became aggressive at a hospital, threatened to rape a nurse, stripped naked and performed a sexual act while shouting threats.
He also destroyed furniture and ripped a sink from a wall, causing an estimated £5,000–£10,000 in damage.
After being taken into police custody, he spat at an officer who intervened when he was seen making a ligature in his cell.
Sulamen, who arrived in the UK in 2024 and is awaiting an asylum hearing, had six previous convictions for 18 offences.
He was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on 27 October after being convicted of offences he denied and pleading guilty to others.
His defence cited anxiety, depression and previous mental health treatment.
As he was led from the dock, he shouted calling the judge a motherfucker.

UK: Somalian migrant Dahir Ibrahim has raped so many women at knifepoint in the UK it is almost unbelievable. These women's lives will be changed forever but he has successfully won several court cases now because of human rights laws.
He has successfully appealed a prison term after multiple rapes and was given a community order. Within weeks he had raped more women at knifepoint.
After being finally sentenced to 10 years he blocked the Home Office's ability to deport him (Kier Starmer might have been his defence).
He has now successfully sued the NHS trust since despite being addicted to Codeine has has argued that he was made to take it during Ramadan which goes against his human rights. And he has won.
