🚨BREAKING: JAPAN WILL ASK EVERY CITIZEN TO STOCK FOOD, WATER AND TOILET SUPPLIES FOR AT LEAST 3 DAYS, IDEALLY 1 WEEK.
Britain, France, Germany and the EU have already told their people to keep emergency supplies ready.
Here's what's happening:
→ THE REQUEST: Disaster minister Goshi Hosono will issue an "emergency request" to every citizen, the central ministries and all prefectures on November 2.
→ 1 WEEK: He wants food, water and toilet supplies at home for "at least 3 days" and, "if possible, 1 week."
→ ON YOUR OWN: He wants every home able to get by "even without public help."
→ THE THREATS: a Nankai Trough quake, a quake right under Tokyo, giant quakes along the Japan and Chishima trenches, and a Mount Fuji eruption.
→ DAY ONE: Japan is LAUNCHING a new Disaster Management Agency that same day, and the request will come on its first day.
Think about this.
People in Japan saw the headline and asked online if World War 3 was coming.
The minister's own list is earthquakes and a volcano.
In 6 days, every citizen in Japan gets the same ask: 3 days at least, 1 week if possible.
Follow me. I'll post the full request on November 2, the day it goes out.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Japan’s government has long advised households to keep at least 3 days, and ideally about 1 week, of food and water at home for natural disasters such as earthquakes. This appears in the national Basic Disaster Management Plan and in Tokyo’s official preparedness guidance.

This post is fantastic! It’s not [just] about the grab bags
thalia74.substack.com/p/corn… Wrote something about our experiences here in Cornwall and whole society resilience. @LucyGoBag @DanJarvisMBE thanks Penzance town council for the photos.
Okay, so this week has been quite an experience for emergency planners.
First #BeReady, then this.
So, something @LucyGoBag has been saying that I want to emphasise is, there are people who have been saying this conversation needs to happen *for years*!!!
But…
…today’s message amplification is better understood if you understand, not just the NRR and NSRA, but also NATO Article 3 and the UK’s baseline requirements for domestic resilience.

Also this is worth a look.

Heard that before anywhere?

Looking like a new format for next year’s NRR?

You'd be surprised how often this happens. Several times Ive been met with abuse for trying to warn people - especially with children - that what they're doing is dangerous.
Tip tip on holiday in Kernow:
1) the waves are much bigger and stronger than they look
2) learn to spot rip tides
3) follow the fishermen - if fishermen appear on cliffs, gather your stuff and run like hell. The tide comes in very quickly here, and very powerfully. Fishermen know the water and only turn up when the tide is due in.
If the tide is already in, and there's nobody fishing - do NOT go in.
If the tide is out, and nobody is around - do NOT go in.
4) If there are no surfers/body boarders in the water - do NOT go in. Surfers, like fishermen, know the local waters better than you.
5) if a local tells you what you're doing is dangerous - listen to them: they know the water better than you.
6) if there are no lifeguards and you have your children with you - do NOT go in.
72 hours of water?
(3 litres x 3 days) x 2 pax = 18ltrs
+ 2 ltrs for contingency = 1 x G10 Jerry
Job done✅
“Be ready by having some everyday essentials… three litres of water per person per day, tinned goods... to last a few days”
Speaking to @vicderbyshire, Defence Secretary Wes Streeting details advice to households to be prepared for a “dangerous and turbulent world”.
