In 2016, I was interviewed at two ‘world class universities’ for an academic psychiatry post. Both interview panels were all white. The first panel laughed at me, the second rated me as the lowest ranking applicant & ‘unappointable’. I never have been humiliated in such a despicable manner. In 2022 I received the World Health Organisation Director General Award for Global Health, the first psychiatrist in the world to receive such an honour. NEVER stop believing in yourself.

I generally ask people why they thought having a child was a good idea.
I think many people don't give it any thoughts and they only follow their feelings and desires, without logically looking at pros and cons. They just want children because everyone else does!

My son is autistic, I asked what his favourite dinosaur was when I tucked him in for bed (T-Rex obvs), then I heard a little voice whisper “mummy, what’s your favourite dinosaur?” He asked me a question back tonight & I just needed to tell someone because it was lovely
