Hurricane Nolo continues to move away from the Hawaiian Islands, with the center of Nolo remaining well southwest and west of the islands. Nolo is currently a category 4 hurricane but is expected to weaken tonight, with faster weakening through the middle of the week. Swells generated by Nolo will affect south-facing shores of the islands for the next few days. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Residents and visitors should remain alert, avoid hazardous shoreline areas and continue monitoring official updates. Visit ready.hawaii.gov for preparedness information and hurricanes.gov for the latest Hurricane Nolo forecast.

The Red Cross urges Hawaii residents to prepare as Nolo approaches. People in the path of Nolo should make sure they have an emergency plan, gather essential supplies and be ready to evacuate if instructed to do so. rdcrss.org/4AD4OkA

The Island Energy Services, LLC (IES) Round Up Campaign generated $100,000 for the American Red Cross! The program, held from March through April 2026, gave Texaco customers the opportunity to round up their purchases or make direct donations at checkout. Thirty Texaco stations and two franchisees participated in the statewide effort. IES also increased its customer donation match to $50,000 in response to severe Kona Low storms that impacted communities across the state during the campaign period. Mahalo to IES, Texaco customers, employees, and participating station teams who came together to support communities across the state!

The American Red Cross quickly responded to the recent earthquake in Hawai‘i County, mobilizing resources to assist the hardest-hit communities between Hōnaunau-Nāpōʻopoʻo and Kona Paradise. After receiving numerous calls on Saturday, May 23, Red Cross volunteers like Robin "Kamalei" Anderson went into the field the very next day. Field teams delivered urgent support and surveyed homes to determine the extend of damage. Learn more about the response here: rdcrss.org/49XhBTb

It is CPR & AED Awareness Week! During this week, we recognize the importance of initiating CPR and using an AED as a response to cardiac arrest. More than 350,000 people suffer cardiac arrest annually, but less than 10% survive. Every second counts when responding to cardiac arrest. If you see someone suddenly collapse, become unresponsive, and stop breathing, call or ask someone to call 9-1-1, send someone for an AED, and begin CPR. Even if you aren’t trained, doing chest compressions (pushing hard and fast in the center of the chest) is better than doing nothing. In many cases, the 9-1-1 operator can talk you through CPR. Register for Online and In-Person courses below. CPR: redcross.org/take-a-class/cp… AED: redcross.org/take-a-class/ae…

As we celebrate Military Appreciation Month, we pause to lift up the heroes who’ve worn the uniform and stepped up for others, often at great personal sacrifice 🇺🇸🪖. Across Guam, the CNMI, Hawaiʻi and American Samoa, military service is part of our communities, our families and our culture of care. Today, we’re honored to recognize Emily Reed, a retired U.S. Air Force nurse whose service continues long after her time on active duty🎖️💙. While stationed at Travis Air Force Base in the 1960s, Emily experienced the compassion of the Red Cross during a time of personal loss - a moment that stayed with her for life. Years later, living in Hawaiʻi and seeing disasters impact island communities, she chose to give back by becoming a monthly donor and including the Red Cross in her estate plans ❤️ Emily's legacy is a powerful reminder that service doesn’t stop with retirement — it evolves, inspires and carries forward to the next generation. #MilitaryAppreciationMonth #veteran

As Volunteer Appreciation Month comes to a close, we’re reliving one of our favorite moments—the Volunteer Heroes Awards 🌟. This year’s celebration brought our Red Cross community together across the region, with the award ceremony held on Oʻahu and watch parties hosted throughout the Big Island, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands 🌺. Together, we honored volunteers who stood out in 2025 for their dedication, the time they so generously gave and the big hearts they bring to our mission every day. Their compassion and commitment power nearly 90% of our lifesaving work, and we are deeply grateful for each of them. Learn more about our Volunteer Heroes here: redcross.org/local/pacific-i…

Happy Aloha Friday, Hawaiʻi 🌈 The aloha spirit is rooted in compassion, respect and responsibility — values we share not only with one another, but with all living things. Aloha calls us to care for people and the ʻāina, honoring the plants, animals and natural spaces that sustain our islands. That same spirit lives at the heart of the American Red Cross. Every day, Red Cross volunteers and employees show aloha by helping neighbors prepare for emergencies, responding to disasters and supporting communities in times of need. It’s about mālama — caring with intention, dignity and empathy. As you head into the weekend, let aloha guide your actions. Be kind. Lend a hand. Protect our environment. Look out for one another. When we care for all living things, we strengthen our communities and help Hawaiʻi stay resilient, today and always. 🌺 🌿🐢 #AlohaFriday #redcrosshawaii
