"The thing is, we don't say it's Iowa style. We say it's Gabe Arnold style. It's Angelo Ferrari style. It's Ben Kueter style.
It's not about the style of the program. It's about you coming in and we're going to add to you. We're not going to change you. We're not going to make you into a robot.
That's been the biggest misconception. Those are the battles we fight...

Spencer the day of tearing his ACL:
"I looked at my coaches and I was like, it's over, my career's over. You know, fourth one, what do you do? You know, I'm like, god damn, everyone's telling me, everyone's blaming my coaching staff, the University of Iowa.
And then, just me, man, there's a problem with me, something's wrong with me. You know, I got bad knees, I guess, you know. And, you know, Tom looked at me and goes, what do you want to do? And I said, well, I'm gonna go wrestle.
And if I go lose again, you know, the media's gonna hate me"
Spencer Lee on his semfinals match:
"I knew he was going exactly for that move because he did it to me the year before. And he got it, man. He had me dead to the rights.
You know, and I just said to myself, like, you know, you can turn me once, but I guess that was only the second time I've ever been turned. But you can ask my teammates. If you turn me one time and you get greedy, I'll pin you."
Holy shit. Spencer tore his ACL for the 4th time, 3 months ago.
"I was gonna concede the spot... I said, I'll just go win it anyways... It's my 4th one, I'm 28 years old. I don't got many more tears left in me. I don't know if I will be back next year... I haven't wrestled in 16 freaking weeks man."
