ICYMI last night and an explainer for non CFB fans:
Armaghβs Paddy McAteer, the backup kicker for the National Champion Indiana Hoosiers came in to the game with two seconds to go, with the team needing a field goal to get to overtime.
He nailed it from sixty yards.
In College Football, itβs even more crucial not to lose a game due to less matchups. Paddyβs kick is going viral across the US - this could be a career changing moment for him.
Cignetti and his team needed him with the US watching on with the brink of an upset - Paddy delivered on one of the biggest stages.
Iβve a feeling weβre going to see this a LOT from Irish kickers in College Football.

V sad news. Richard was a stalwart during dark times of the early 90s & then survived the 1995 summer cull to be in the 95-6 Pulis promotion side - played 35 games in the lge that season & 50+ games in the 3rd tier. Reliable, durable & committed.
253 apps - 27th all-time.
RIP
The Football Club is absolutely devastated to announce the passing of former defender, Richard Green.

Is it happening all over again with the Gills?
2023-24 in top 7 until game 13 (harris then sacked)
2024-25 in top 7 until game 13 (bonner goes game 23)
2025-26 in top 7 until game 14 (return, briefly, after) 2026-27 in top 7 until game 13
Maddening.
Remember when the Gills were thumping bournemouth on sky? 25 years later (gulp) the Cherries are beating seven-time european champions...and er we are...well...
Seems cruel - a decision that will need the context of what follows to be truly judged. But, given what this man did with the club, surely should have earned him more time in lge 1 than just 10 games?

And for no particular reason whatsoeverβ¦. here's the solitary goal scored in our 0-1 win over @Como_1907 π

What itβs all about right here. Derry man Jack Cassidy kicks a game winning field goal for West Virginia in Morgantown.
The SCENES at the end!

The Gills' record in 2026 is now W9 D7 L17
With just 6 pts between 4th and 23rd - it's WIDE open this season. Every team bar 4 has now lost at least 3 times already.
Updated Gills scorers:

2 Cas/Gibbs 110
4 Lovell 104
5 Richardson 102
6 Price 89
7 McDonald 81
8 Morgan/Westwood 77
10 Terry 66
11 Onuora 56
12 Weatherley 55
13 Pulley 51
14 Shearer 50
15 King/Crown/DACK 47
18 Kedwell 45
19 Mehmet 43
20 Nicol/Jackson/EAVES 42
Best strike rate for @TheGillsFC - minimum 100 apps:
1. Pat Terry (1958-1961) 66 goals in 119 apps 0.555
2.Ernie Morgan (1953-1957) 77 in 163 0.47

That's Bradley Dack's 47th goal for @TheGillsFC moving him up to 15th= in club history - alongside David Crown and Marlon King. Will Tom Eaves (42) or Dacky get to 50 goals first!?
So the night he makes his 100th app for @TheGillsFC that is goal number 42 for Tom Eaves.
He moves 20th= in the all-time club list....alongside George Nicol and Simeon Jackson.
So @TheGillsFC win 4-1 away for the second time this season.
1938-9 is the last and only other time we won 4-1 away twice in a season - that was in the Sthn Lge Div 1.
In 1946-7 season we won 4-1 on six occasions - but only once away.
Tom Eaves' 41st goal for @TheGillsFC today sees him move past Carl Asaba to 22nd on all-time goals list for club:
19th Dave Mehmet 43
20th George Nicol 42
Simeon Jackson 42
