The japanese manga industry has a creator-focused working model that is nonexistent in america. such are the downsides of late stage capitalism.*

(🤓☝️ *i am talking about marvel and DC. [independent US comic creator] did nothing wrong except make me read 30 pages of vibes.) (The lack of plot may in fact be a superpower combatting the capitalism.)

ps. if you were wondering, manga industry works corporately too and I would wager is not paying creators enough. But they do have many large comic publishers not just 2. And they actually do what publishers do- help advise creators on how to make their comic marketable.

If art isn’t making you bleed sweat and cry, then you will not receive any accolades for running an AI prompt through a machine to recreate art people have in their veins. You will receive zero respect for the zero amount of time spent.
