When the Baboons and Monkeys heard that the Man who used to chase them away from the maize field had died, they hysterically celebrated. The following year, there was no maize, that is when they painfully realized the dead Man was the Farmer!

Wondering why you have a half page feature on the 2025 NFU Welsh Stockperson of the year winner awarded at the 2025 Welsh Dairy Show in this weeks edition as opposed to a the 2026 winner announced at the 2026 show @FarmersGuardian @katiejonesFG @NFUCymru ?? Rather old news!

Sad to report Andy Burnham is shitting himself over the insolvency of Poundland, as its distribution centre is his constituency. Rumour he has ordered business minister Jonathan Reynolds to do what needs doing to save the firm and stop a local rebellion of labour supporters. How exciting

The clueless Chancellor does not understand trading cycles. This will cause a cash flow issue that will cripple many small businesses. This is a huge error @dsnorthnorth .
The new changes to drag forward income tax charges mean that many if not most people will be paying income tax on money they haven't earned yet. Very few business have 1/12 of their profit available to distribute in April. Even if it's quarterly, how many businesses have 1/4 of their annual profit in the bank by the end of June? If the Treasury knew anything about seasonality or billing cycles, they'd never have proposed this change.

Maybe its just me, but running a small business has never - certainly not in my lifetime - been as difficult as it is right now and I'm struggling to find reasons to carry it on. Its certainly not for the work life balance, or for the money. Its not for an easy life, or to relieve avoid stress. So what is it for? To keep other people employed? To keep paying ever more tax? Its been 25 years, and I think I'm done.

We support small businesses, they’re the background to the country and we’re cutting red tape. Meanwhile here’s some new rules and more red tape for you!
Announced today: we are slashing red tape to get government off the backs of small business. Companies House, five hours later: we're still shutting the free web portal and forcing every company in Britain to buy software to file its accounts.

For those of you who thought the visit from a Bedford Borough Council official to investigate our daughter Zoe’s (age 12) pretend teddy bear cafe was too ridiculous to be real, here is the arrival of official. This is totally legit. She really did show up at our property to investigate the illegal teddy bears having their coffee🧸🧸☕️☕️

Another crazy incident in our old house (now sold) - We got visited by an official from the planning department for Bedfordshire Borough Council Why? Because Zoe’s (age 12) toy cafe got reported for illegal trading. I kid you not. We had to show the lady around our property to prove we weren’t running an illegal operation.

Absolutely this!
Have you noticed that when backing out of a parking space pedestrians no longer stop and wait? They walk right across the path of your moving vehicle. That didn't happen twenty years ago. Backup cameras, rear cross-traffic radar, and warning chimes haven't just changed the car—they've retrained the pedestrian to assume the machine will see them and stop. Every safety system rewrites the habits of the people around it. Unintended consequences.

This is insane. This High Protein Beef mince in Lidl is only 60% beef. There’s nothing on the front label. It’s only when you turn over the ingredients you see it’s 20% pea protein and the other 20% is water and seasoning .. you are buying 40% less meat than you think.!

That's funny because at my last strategy meeting with my accountant, they informed me I must use HMRC-recognised Making Tax Digital compatible software, creating an oligopoly for firms like Xero. I must now also report my company's income every three months rather than once a year, as well as a final report at year end. So I now have to pay for a Xero subscription. And pay my accountant more for the increased submissions. And fuck about with reconciling every three months, rather than once a year. For HMRC to end up with the same amount of income from me as before. Fuck off. Just fuck off. Fuck off all the way back to Yorkshire, then fuck off some more.
British firms are fed up with pointless paperwork and form-filling. Today we are cutting unnecessary bureaucracy, reducing costs and giving businesses the breathing space they need to invest, innovate and create good jobs.

Why mention @Dyson in the clickbait headline when the product in question isn’t remotely connected to Dyson - let’s face it, if you are buying a £12 hairdryer it probably isn’t likely to be the best or safest on the market!🙄
