The wildest thing just happened. My family decided to go to Burger King tonight. (We don’t go to Burger King but he does Walmart deliveries and gets a discount, so tonight was it.) Went to one farther away from our house for fun.. anyway, so we’re sitting and eating and it’s dark.. I see a homeless man outside walking past. (It’s not an unusual thing here, most are drugged out, or high. I usually ignore them because it’s dangerous.) This wasn’t normal. I immediately felt drawn to talk to this man, buy him a meal. Husband says ok so I go outside to ask him if he’d like anything. He gets super animated with a huge smile and says yes!! He’s hungry. So I ask if he has any preferences, nope- he’s just thankful I asked.. then he says, “what I love is that I didn’t have to ask you- the Spirit spoke to you and you listened.” 😳 say what?? I smiled and said “He sure did.” So ffwd to buying his dinner for $18 (IYKYK) and he comes into the restaurant with this rose for me (he sells them on the corner!!) and proceeds to tell me how beautiful of a mother I am and my family is blessed, shakes my husband’s hand, thanks him.. and I give him a hug and he tells me more about his life. His name is Seven Thunders from a tribe in MT… and as I tell him goodbye he says “I’ll see you in the Kingdom.” This was such a special moment. It was SO OBVIOUSLY orchestrated by the Father. Be praying for this man! He blessed me so much tonight.

I’ve used the word “inexplicable” a lot to describe Ryan Coleman-Williams’ drops. Well, Alabama recently found a pretty compelling explanation — and a way to improve it. How new tech is helping his hard work this offseason pay off: espn.com/college-football/st…

I’ve read some pretty disgusting statements from this Trump administration, but this one makes me want a physically vomit.

He landed on Omaha Beach in the first wave and walked off as the only man left standing from his unit. Charles Durning was born February 28, 1923, in Highland Falls, New York - the ninth of ten children. Five of his siblings died young from scarlet fever and smallpox. A teacher told him he had no talent for anything academic and should aim for office work. At twenty, Durning was drafted. On June 6, 1944, he hit the sand at Omaha Beach with the first assault wave of the Allied invasion of Nazi-occupied France. Every man in his unit was killed. Durning fought through it. He killed seven German machine gunners before taking bullets to his leg and shrapnel across his body. The U.S. Army awarded him his first Purple Heart. He spent six months recovering in England. Then they sent him back. In December 1944, Durning was fighting in the Ardennes forest during the Battle of the Bulge. In close-quarters combat, a German soldier stabbed him eight times with a bayonet. Durning killed that man with a rock. Second Purple Heart. Not long after, Durning's company was captured. On December 17, 1944, near Malmedy, Belgium, Waffen-SS troops opened fire on approximately 84 disarmed American prisoners of war. The event is now known as the Malmedy Massacre. Durning was one of the few to survive it. In March 1945, still fighting through Germany with the 398th Infantry Regiment, Durning was shot in the chest. Third Purple Heart. He was evacuated to the United States and discharged from the Army in January 1946. Three Purple Hearts. Three near-deaths. One man. Almost no one around him knew any of it for decades. Durning suppressed his D-Day memories so completely that he returned to Normandy only once in his entire life - during a Memorial Day ceremony in May 1994, marking the 50th anniversary of the invasion. "I don't know what they went through," he said of other veterans. "They don't know what I went through." He left it there. He never made it a performance. Finding acting was an accident. After leaving the Army, Durning spent five years drifting before taking a job as an usher at a burlesque theater in New York. One night a comedian showed up drunk and couldn't go on. Durning was handed the slot. He took it. Something clicked. By 1972, Durning was on Broadway in That Championship Season, a play that won the Tony Award for Best Play. Director George Roy Hill saw him there and cast him in The Sting in 1973 alongside Paul Newman and Robert Redford. From that moment, Durning became one of the most reliable character actors in American film and television. Dog Day Afternoon. Tootsie. O Brother, Where Art Thou? Over a career spanning five decades, Durning earned two Academy Award nominations, nine Emmy nominations, and a Tony Award in 1990 for playing Big Daddy in a Broadway revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Audiences laughed with him. Cried with him. Rooted for him. Almost none of them knew what was underneath. Charles Durning died on December 24, 2012, at his home in New York City. He was 89 years old. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Three Purple Hearts. Two Oscar nominations. A Tony. Nine Emmys.

Simon Andriesz, the British banker who uncovered 2018 emails linking Howard Lutnick to Jeffrey Epstein’s Adfin investment and took them to House Oversight, has died at age 57. BBC reported his findings. Lutnick later admitted to visiting the island but not the business dealings.
Simon Andriesz @SAndriesz has died. He took his own life this week, while staying at a trauma treatment centre, the same place he had gone to try to survive what years of fighting had done to him. I wrote the piece below about him at the start of August. We last spoke on 13 August. Reading my own words back now feels different. Heavier. I did not know then that this would be the last chapter. Simon gave me his story directly. The embezzlement he uncovered, the fraud he reported, the heart attacks, the police complaints, the years @TheFCA spent doing almost nothing while his life fell apart around him. He handed the CFTC and HMRC enough to secure real fines. He handed the BBC enough for a full documentary. And still the one regulator that was supposed to protect him let him carry all of it alone for 7 years. He was one of the most credible people I have ever spoken to. Everything he told me checked out. And he still ended up broken by the very system meant to catch people like him when they fell. I am angry writing this. Angry that a man this capable, this thorough, this willing to hand over evidence and testimony for years, was left to fight completely alone until he could not fight anymore. Simon Andriesz deserved better. Rest in peace. If you are struggling right now, please do not go through it alone. Some melodies aren’t just meant to be heard, they can be experienced visually, too. Pachelbel’s “Canon in D” offers a captivating blend of music and visual beauty.

Hopefully this is the game where Bama fans quit bitching about DeBoer and start appreciating that we have another good coach that knows what he’s doing.

Thank God we have the SEC. This Big10 lineup is pathetic.
For the second week in a row, there isn’t a compelling Big Ten game all day. On the other hand, the SEC is giving college football fans game after game of excitement.

Republicans held brief procedural meetings, often lasting no more than a minute to stop Trump from making recess appointments. But they’re on our side and we should completely ignore them stabbing us in the back and vote for their re-elections. I DINT CARE IF EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM LOSE, I’M NOT VOTING
