Happy to share our first independent work just out @angew_chem: Natural methyl analogs of central sesquiterpenes widespread in actinobacteria! Exciting enzyme chemistry. Curious why they exist. A hidden "magic methyl effect" in the terpene world? onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…

Check out our new opinion paper on plant biosynthetic pathway discovery, spearheaded by #FeliciaWolters, @elena_delpup et al.
How do we pair omics to decode the diversity of 🌱plant specialized metabolism? In our latest paper, we present a perspective on how paired omics can support a collaborative effort to characterise the plant metabolome. @marnixmedema @jjjvanderhooft

The #BJOC thematic issue on Young investigators in natural products chemistry, biosynthesis, and enzymology is now complete! 31 contributions from young investigators around the world! Check it out! @BeilsteinInst beilstein-journals.org/bjoc/…
A P450 and the hypothetical protein in our study show partial functional redundancy. Some euthainols associated with the pathway show unique oxygenation patterns compared to known eunicellanes. Notably, some euthainols show antibiotic properties against ESKAPE pathogens
This study was a true collaborative effort among the Clardy, Voigt, Ueoka, Walker and Helfrich labs led by our talented first authors Ayesha Ahmed Chaushri, Yuya Kakumu, @SirinTH229, and @ctliu629. Proud to share the results of this teamwork!
We developed a versatile genome mining strategy to explore the biosynthetic space of the atropopeptides - a fascinating family of peptides with complex 3D shapes!
Now out in @ChemicalScience

We redefined the atropopeptide family of ribosomally synthesized and posttranslationally modified peptides and uncovered several new members of the peptide family with varying peptide length and structural complexity
Great work by @Friederike82360, Bin Tan, Milena Breitenbach, Yuya Kakumu, Pakjira Nanudorn, Yoana Dimitrova and our amazing collaboration partners Allison Walker and Reiko Ueoka
