No, Jewish identity does not depend on political sovereignty over the Holy Land, nor does a modern state inherit the authority to speak in Judaism’s name. Yes, Jewish tradition prizes moral and spiritual achievement, kindness, and peace among GD’s creations, not domination over others, GD forbid. Giving the Israeli government, a political state, the authority to define Jewish identity or antisemitism is like allowing someone to appropriate another people’s identity and then appoint himself its official interpreter.
