Another week, another book
Earlier in the year I read a Bryson book from the 90s exploring his favourite bits of Britain. Today I’ve finished his follow up which was initially published in 2015. Both are very readable and both are now time capsules of a very different Britain 🤔
I don’t do Halloween costumes - but wearing a Star Wars shirt to a Dr Who convention social evening feels close enough 😂
Am looking miserable but this is my concentration face as I don’t do selfies 😂
In Coventry for a doctor who convention weekend - came 2nd in a quiz last night (I only helped on the music round) and now about to listen to Peter Purves who was a large part of my childhood #Pandorica26
3 years ago today I saw Patrick Stewart on the RSC stage talking about his new autobiography. I’d seen him on stage in the Tempest and the Merchant of Venice - just 2 of the many fine roles he played over so many years. Thinking of all of his friends @TheRSC tonight ❤️
Am over in Northampton for an evening of michael spicer - the man in the room next door sketches
Hadn’t realised how close row b was when booking 😂 @MrMichaelSpicer
Am watching a new mock the week and the list of expected guests are quite wild
Didn’t know Jeremy Hardy was coming back from the dead let alone Frankie Boyle or John Oliver returning 😂
Another day, another book
I wouldn’t normally read a book in a day but this was a novella at c85 pages.
This is one of the November WTB Book Club short story options - and it really reminded me of “my brilliant year” that I’d read earlier in the year - the joys of book club.
Another week, another book
Full disclosure - when the wtb book club mentioned it was going to read “gone girl” a few months ago, I picked this one up by mistake as well 😂
I had seen the movie years ago but couldn’t remember much of it so the book still felt fresh 🤔
All things being equal I should be running the 10k on the other side of Grafham water today but am still rehabbing the knee so I’m marshalling the half marathon instead.
I’m going to send the runners into the woods next to me once they pop up this gentle hill 🤔
There was full funding back in the 90s so that it could join up with the planned Wellingborough east.
Villagers didn’t want it on that side and the money went elsewhere
Not sure it will ever be built
‘Bitter disappointment’ as A509 Isham bypass dropped from road programme trib.al/HPLNIBP
Was grateful I was able to attend today’s service before heading back to work. Rosemary was a lovely lady and the service did her credit.
Haven’t seen a coffin come back out to “sit down you’re rocking the boat” from Guys & Dolls before 🤔😂
A life well lived ❤️
Another week, another book and I’ve achieved my 2026 target of 40 books. This is the current @wtb_podcast choice - another one I wouldn’t have probably read otherwise. I really enjoyed it and gives me hope 😉
With 3 months left of the year, I guess 52 feels like a new target 🤔
Longest swim in a very long time this morning - did the full 3 hours lane swim session.
Last time I swam this far i went to the cinema and fell asleep - so am sure this mornings trip will turn out differently 😂
Passed 50k for the month with 2 days left 🏊♂️
Been a dreadful season for my Mets - but occasionally you get funny moments. The season ends tonight and the opposition pitcher throws a ball about 30 feet behind the catcher.
I can only just keep the ball in the pic (have marked it in purple) 😂
Was Up early on a Sunday to guard a car park in Leicestershire - can only be a Race Harborough event. Today is festival of cycling - 50k and 100k distances 🤔
Always slightly weird being at a school at a weekend though 😂
Up early in Bedford for a weekend of English Schools combined events - my final weekend of the season.
Just the 43 inter boys to get through if they all turn up 😳
Terrible news - 57 is no age.
I never met him but he was easily the best keeper City had in my lifetime.
RIP Big Kev
A truly special man who cared deeply about everyone he met and gave his all to the Club as a player and a coach.
His warmth and sense of humour was special, and he brightened up the lives of so many who had the pleasure to get to know him.
An incredible keeper and coach and a more importantly a wonderful person.
We will miss you, Kev ❤️
Had a nightmare journey here thanks to a m1 closure but am at Derby for the British masters athletics champs.
Should be an interesting weekend 🤔
