An 1898 indictment, used corruptly to sanction the lynching of John Henry James, is “a symbol of racial injustice,” said Albemarle County Commonwealth’s Attorney Hingeley, who moved the Court in 2023 to dismiss it. For details see cvilletomorrow.org/lynching-…
On this day in 1898, a Black man was falsely accused and lynched by unmasked white men near Charlottesville, Virginia. Despite police witnessing this lynching, no one was ever held accountable.

Right. Gov. McDonnell made a temporary appointment that lasted about six months. My point is that the judge has served for thirteen years because the General Assembly elected and re-elected him to judicial office.
Replying to @HingeleyJim
8/10/12: "Governor Bob McDonnell today announced two judicial appointments to fill vacant circuit court positions that were not filled during the 2012 General Assembly session...Jack S. "Chip" Hurley, Jr. will serve in the 29th Judicial Circuit." wayback.archive-it.org/1655/…
Got it. I've got to buck up and start calling fellow Democrats idiots lest I be considered weak kneed. Thanks for the tip. Oh, by the way, you don't know how to spell Sorensen, but you're good at the short words, like BS.
Really? You choose name calling over argumentation. Now who does that sound like? @BrianRCannon is right: We are becoming what we abhor.
Enough already with the MAGA nonsense. We Democrats should not call a judicial decision we disagree with highly partisan. Have some respect for a judge who the VA Supreme Ct will correct if he's wrong. By the way, judges in VA are elected to office by the General Assembly.
Not surprisingly, right-wing Republicans Mark Obenshain and Tim Anderson LOOOOVE this Bob McDonnell appointee judge's highly partisan ruling. bluevirginia.us/2026/01/brea…

This is Marco Rubio explaining how the USA promised to defend Ukraine forever if they got rid of their nuclear arsenal left after the Soviet Union fell.
This is why lil marco was sinking into the couch. He was hoping we wouldn’t find it…so don’t RT right now this very second.

Replying to @bluevirginia @ssurovell
Thanks @ssurovell for the reminder--"don’t forget the special election for SD10 (Dem Jack Trammell vs. Repub Luther Cifers)." Trammell has an uphill battle, but strong Dem turnout in this special election could swing the district to Trammell. Dems, *get to the polls* on Jan. 7!
Justice, mercy, and public safety can be achieved by granting clemency to those waiting execution on federal death row. Please urge @POTUS to commute all federal death sentences to life in prison and prevent resumption of federal executions under a second Trump administration.
1/ 38 prosecutors and justice leaders are calling on @POTUS to commute federal death row sentences. The death penalty is flawed, biased, and unjust. It’s time to #CommuteTheRow
