Everyone calling CVE-2026-98432 an “Ubuntu bug” is missing the point. It’s a Linux kernel IPv4 TCP use-after-free that affects any system running a vulnerable kernel.
Affects Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL, SUSE, Oracle Linux, Amazon Linux, Android, and more.
CVSS scores for the same bug:
• Kernel / Ubuntu: 9.8 Critical
• Red Hat: 5.9 Moderate
• SUSE / Oracle: ~8.1 Important

My server is Ubuntu.
CVE-2026-98432 is a kernel IPv4 TCP handshake use-after-free (SYN-recv / IP options), a “Caddy/MPTCP remote-root bug” is a bit of a stretch I think. Hitting it not easy, needs a tight race on a reachable TCP listener; realistic impact is closer to DoS than reliable RCE. On my host, 80/443 only accept Cloudflare edge, SSH is not on the public internet, and origin TLS is AOP-gated so random internet SYNs never reach the stack. I’m still in Ubuntu’s affected 6.8 set.
