to that great game called "You're telling me?" When is it ever ok to have a giant birthday box that contains clothes? Why are shoe sellers throwing themselves out of windows? How does that doll get any leverage on anyone ever? Should you conduct a sniff test before ⅔

This is the true me, Judge Alvin from Nothing But Trouble. The film cost Warner Brothers $38 million and made 4. It effectively ended my directorial career, but was the best experience thanks to having Spielberg’s crew—Dean Cundey, Cinematographer and Michael Lantieri, Special Effects. As well as William Sandell, Art Director. We came in under budget but the studio opened us against Jodi Foster in Silence of the Lambs and Julia Roberts in Sleeping With the Enemy. We didn’t have a chance. But I’m proud of the picture as a perfectly serviceable comedy.
I can be and prefer to be addressed as Judge, by virtue of my serving as a sworn Canadian federal judge for 2 hours wherein I welcomed new immigrant families to Canada. So Judge Aykroyd will be fine. And also Doctor. Judge Doctor. Doctor. Doctor. Doctor. Doctor…

15 years of selling books next to Jonathan Janz.
I have stubble now but also still look like a sickly Victorian child.

Just got back from Evil Dead Burn. My spoiler free initial reaction is its a good time on its own that falls a smidge short of my lofty expectations overall for an Evil Dead movie. Some amazing shots and sequences, fun kills and a lot to make you squirm in your seats. Go watch it

This is me 20 years ago. I am filming (and sleeping) in this rental house with friends. The Puffy Chair has recently premiered at Sundance. I am in a healthy relationship with the love of my life. After years of relentlessly pushing myself through the struggle, everything is finally working. I look so happy. Everyone can see it and is commenting on it.
Not long after this picture is taken is when I have a nervous breakdown. I don't see it coming. It brings me to my knees. Thankfully, the story ends well. I'm able to build myself back up with therapy, medication, exercise, consistent sleep, etc. In some ways, that breakdown was a gift to help me become the person I am now. It certainly made me a kinder, gentler father/husband/friend/collaborator/mentor. But it almost broke me.
Today is the last day of Men's Mental Health Month. Please remember that you can't always see what's going on from the outside. Sometimes it looks "happy." Check on your loved ones. Check in with yourself. And if you or someone you know is heading somewhere scary, @988Lifeline is a text/chat/call away.

Want to be in my book? One male character and one female are yet to be named in my upcoming SF novel. For $500 each, the name could be yours. Your character(s) might be good. They might be bad. They might live or they might eat shit and die. Let me know if you’re interested

I’ve raised 2 amazing young men. My parenting advice is this — your kids are who they are. Don’t try to change them, try to understand them. Then discourage them away from the bad versions of themselves, and encourage them to be the best version of themselves. That’s it.
