#RamayanaPart1 Review: PHENOMENAL SPECTACLE BEGINNING OF AN ERA ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫 A MUST MUST WATCH.... as an Indian, as a Cinema Lover, as a Fan and as a Believer or Non-Believer (in God & Goodness). A GUARANTEED first of it's kind, never seen before production SCALE from our Indian soil. Namit Malhotra's #Ramayana is a triumph in celebrating, experiencing & watching the tale of Shri Ram, the way it DESERVED to be told. Every frame, shot, moment, scene - the EXECUTION precedes everything else. The minute the film starts, the same minute you know this is going to be a journey - of amazement, of appreciation and of reverence. The casting is TOP-NOTCH. #RanbirKapoor is STELLAR, he out-performs even more than what I had thought. His calm demour, controlled body and facial expressions as Shri Ram is something to be genuinely studied; an actor so fine he blends his craft with the fine traits of Shri Ram as we would imagine Him to be - serene, regal & enigmatic. Those who doubted his calibre, are truly in for a shock. #SaiPallavi is PERFECTION to the core. Her voice modulation, screen presence and confidence in crucial scenes, totally justifies her casting as Maa Sita. She portrays Maa Sita in a way that's very authentic, dignified and the unpretentious type. #Yash - THE MAN OF THE MOMENT. I can't imagine anyone else as Ravana here-on; NOT a single note goes wrong. A complete surprise, in his mannerism, reactions & body language. Yash is expected to do most of the heavy lifting in this first part, and he doesn't disappoint. #Others: If you are a long time watcher of Hindi movies, you will instantly know all of the actors in the extended cast by their name or face; and everyone does their part well. #VivekOberoi did feel a little out of place personally. Most IMPRESSIVE depts: 1) The Cinematography, Camera moments, VFX/ CGI by DNEG; it's literally a 100/10 on the MASSIVE SCALE, CONCEPT & OUTPUT alone. 2) The Costume Designers deserves a standing-ovation, again for the smallest detailing of everything that's gone into finalizing each character's look; from the headgears, capes, sarees, armours, jewellery etc. - the detailing is INSANE (I struggled to take my eyes off Ravana's mookut, seriously). 3) Maa Sita is shown as a powerful, sharp, courageous and an intelligent protagonist (as she deserves to be depicted), not some abhla-naari playing merely a damsel-in-distress like in most other versions. 4) The screenplay seamlessly blends some light & fun moments even in a heavy period drama, and most of them thanks to #RavieDubey. Kudos for that, the audience chuckled and enjoyed (wherever they were supposed to). NOT-SO Impressive parts: 1) The film concentrates more on the events rather than drama. The emphasis was upon showing the actual events rather than delving upon the 'BHAAV' behind those actions & events. 2) Th BGM, though very good, but felt very absent in some parts (it could have been infused more & louder); almost gave a feeling of silence in some high moments. 3) Heavily sanitized & watered-down dialogues (to avoid unnecessary critics perhaps). Personal FAVS: 1) Brahma's appearance 2) Ravana's fight with Indra 3) Parshuram sequence 4) Ram invoking Gandharvastra 5) Panchvati Battle 6) Interpretation of Ravana's ten heads. I can go on for another five paragraphs, but all you need to know is that this Nitesh & Namit's #Ramayana is a BECHMARK & a leap forward for us as a nation, not just in terms of cinema but also a HISTORICAL imprint to the world henceforth. Rather than just re-enacting a known tale, this version serves as a groundbreaking, cultural landmark for a GLOBAL cinema. Yes, #Ramayana is truly the MOST IMMERSIVE big-screen experience you will have.... from India.
