My children fell asleep to the sound of war. When war came to Lebanon, there was no lullaby at night. There were bombs, and that was the music my children slept to. So I made a promise: if we survived, I would work for peace for the rest of my life, and that is exactly what I have been doing ever since. I did not choose this path. It came to me. That is why I believe the @UnitedNations is the most important institution the world has for peace and security. Peace should be led by people who know the real cost of war.
