After ICE agents ate lunch at a Minnesota Mexican restaurant, they went back and arrested three of the restaurant's employees.
I don’t know that you can reform that kind of cruelty.

Statement from the Nobel Foundation
One of the core missions of the Nobel Foundation is to safeguard the dignity of the Nobel Prizes and their administration. The Foundation upholds Alfred Nobel’s will and its stipulations. It states that the prizes shall be awarded to those who "have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind," and it specifies who has the right to award each respective prize. A prize can therefore not, even symbolically, be passed on or further distributed.

Nicolás Maduro is a brutal dictator who has caused immense suffering. However, the way to fight authoritarianism abroad is not to embrace it at home.
Foreign policy is not the personal domain of a president. Congress has a constitutional role to serve as the voice of the people and a restraint on power. One of the oldest moves in the authoritarian playbook is to sideline the legislature and strip away checks and balances. That’s Step Three in the autocrat's playbook.
In our democracy, actions of this magnitude and decisions about what happens next, must go through Congress - not be dictated by a president who admires authoritarians and rules like one.

"While the victims of the massacre at Bondi Beach were still bleeding, Benjamin Netanyahu - architect of the genocide in Palestine - blamed Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese."
Butt out, Netanyahu

This is another hero from yesterday’s disgraceful anti-semitic shooting in Bondi. This hero is a refugee without a permanent visa. Our client's name isn’t publicly available so we are using AB.
When the shooter was hit, this hero ran up the bridge and kicked away the gun the shooter was still holding. Other bystanders misunderstood his intent and kicked him...
...but AB didn’t fight back and a detective helped make it clear that AB is a civilian who was brave enough to step in and help. The photo above shows the moment AB commenced running up the stairs to the bridge to disarm the shooter. #bondishooting

Australia has every right to manage its borders - but how we do this matters. My @canberratimes op-ed today raises concerns about proposed migration law amendments that strip away procedural fairness. The Government's $400 million deal with Nauru to deport the NZYQ cohort makes these issues even more urgent.

Outrageous that anyone would choose to copy Australia's failed policy of offshore detention.
Offshore detention is well documented humanitarian and financial disaster. This is all about the politics of fear and division.

When the Taliban returned to power in 2021, they claimed they’d be more moderate, specifically noting respect for women’s rights “within Islamic law”.
Is this it??
We hold grave concerns for our clients in Afghanistan & those facing forced return. #auspol

The parallels between this story days ago in Harlem and what happened in Biloela in 2018 are uncanny.
Time to think about what we expect from our politicians and find out exactly where they stand before May 3. #auspol
If FIFA continues this stance, they are helping the Taliban suppress women.
