Normally young white men being the universally approved punching bag wouldn’t matter. We don’t really take it too personally that every group of people in the world has a bone to pick with us. But the problem with the anti-gamer ad is that depicting us specifically as unemployed losers — rather than evil rapist Nazi serial killer abuser war criminal, you know, “the hits” — is going to hit a nerve because young white men actually aren’t doing well right now. While literally every group of people aside from us has had their respective status explained by “socioeconomic factors,” which themselves are said to be our fault, we don’t get that luxury. Moreover, it actually isn’t our fault that we aren’t doing well. We are actually the only group of people who are held down as a matter of policy and widely-held societal attitudes that we deserve it. All we want is the boot taken off our necks. We would opt for blind aptitude tests for jobs/positions — no other group would. That tells you the whole story. Everyone wants to stand atop their artificially created “status” and punch down, and it’s because they’re insecure in knowing that it is indeed artificial, and created precisely to produce the outcomes we’re seeing.
