THE BLOCK: Brazilian crypto exchange Mercado Bitcoin confirmed a security incident and temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals, saying customers were unaffected.
Blockchain security firm Hypernative earlier flagged more than $40 million in suspicious transfers across multiple networks, according to local outlet BitNotícias.

Post-mortem update.
A protocol pause stopped an attempted exploit.
No user funds were lost.
The issue was in hub reward-vault balance accounting.
A third-party delegated stake could inflate a strategy’s reported balance.
That inflated vault NAV, which then flowed into the junior / Alpha rate.
An attacker deployed a contract targeting this.
The attempt failed.
With support from @HypernativeLabs and @KodiakFi , the issue was flagged and we paused our contracts in time.
The fix has been fork-verified and deployed.
Reported balance now excludes delegated stake.
Deposits and withdrawals are open again.
The protocol is back to normal operation.

Tomer Weiss (@Weisstmr), Global Partnerships at @HypernativeLabs, joins HSC Conference Seoul on October 1
Register to hear Tomer in Seoul: luma.com/HSC_Seoul
Tomer runs partnerships at Hypernative, an onchain security platform built to catch attacks before funds move rather than explain them afterwards. It pairs real-time onchain and off-chain monitoring with machine-learning threat detection and automated response, covering exploits and bridge attacks, phishing and address poisoning, sanctions screening and de-peg prediction, and it protects billions in assets across multiple chains.

Layer 4, monitoring.
Everything so far happens before deployment. This one has to work for as long as the protocol is live.
@HypernativeLabs monitors the contracts continuously. It has the ability to act based on real-time ongoing exploits: if something anomalous shows up, pools are paused, which blocks all attacks but still allows LPs to withdrawal.

🧵TIME

Audits and tests cover code at a point in time. They don't watch what happens after deployment.
We run continuous on-chain monitoring through Hypernative, around the clock.
.@talerfinance, the neutral infrastructure for managed onchain capital, treats security as an ongoing job, not a one-time audit.
Taler runs continuous onchain monitoring through Hypernative, layered across three levels:
✔️ built-in threat detection on every watchlisted address
✔️ protocol-level monitoring across shared infrastructure and treasury
✔️ per-vault monitoring tuned to a specific vault's contract set, starting with TLO
The built-in layer alone catches attacker funding and malicious contract deployment before exploitation, detects attacks in real time, scores unusual contracts for maliciousness, and flags addresses tied to OFAC sanctions, blacklists, or mixers, independent of any rule Taler configures.
The result is eyes on protocol activity around the clock, not a report after the fact.
Glad to have Taler building on Hypernative as the vault lineup grows.
